This book reads like an after thought; "Uhh... the publisher needs something... let's just throw him in the ****ing desert and call it a plot". Bad; very bad. But you learn just enough to continue reading.

Fun read-aloud YA SF. Better when it's focused on dystopia and the evils of social control and eugenics. The romance got a little bit mushy cheese-food. Overall, however, Condie is fantastic with voice, tone, timbre, and subtle yearnings; she makes very real the transformation of a young woman's consciousness from naive to excited to quietly horrified and finally to heroically determined. Most certainly liked it well enough to read the next one when it comes out.

i love this book soooo much!
Interesting mystery set in the world of academia. Cannot recommend due to content issues, but if foul language and sexual innuendo don't bother you, this is an intelligent read. But, perhaps too intelligent to be believable in places. Made me glad I didn't actually get into the world of academia after all.

I can't imagine a more fun, biting, and affectionate travel book. Bryson takes a victory lap of sorts before leaving Britain and treats it with all the love and accrued incredulity one might a close friend or family member. He sees and explains it clearly, noting its pockmarks but also emphasizing its overall bounteous appeal to him.

Gentle mystery that is timeless and ageless relying upon clues as opposed to violence... I liked this for elementary students as a thought-provoking mystery, if not the deepest book in the world... Watson is kind of a weak character....

Enough book references to make any bibliophile feel like they are in heaven. This volume finds Thursday Next living in books with all of the intrigue that she hoped she left behind. Not as clever as the last novel but still fascinating.

This book was such a change from the Twilight books, and I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first. All I can say now, having read it, is that I am SO GLAD I did, and that Stephenie Meyer was right-on when she described it as a sci-fi novel for people who don't like sci-fi. I don't generally read sci-fi, as a genre, but once in a while a story will interest me. It usually has to be something about aliens, and there *has* to be a love story involved, or I won't be interested. I know...call me predictable. Anyway, this was such a different kind of story for me. It wasn't at all the kind of thing I'd usually read, and it was refreshingly different from anything else I'd read in a while. Definitely worth picking up, though don't expect Edward Cullen to be sticking his head in here, anywhere. ;)
Witemeyer.
