Genre:Paranormal Romance "And the dirty joke fails," were my immediate thoughts after reading this book. Don't get me wrong Night Pleasure has the same fun humor that I enjoyed in Fantasy Lover, but in this case it felt stail. Like taking the same joke, but telling it differently. It doesn't quite make you laugh like the first one, and to be honest if it doesn't have a new spin what's the point of retelling it? Kyrian has been betrayed to a point where he believes no one can truly love him or care about him. Amanda has never really been in love and her most recent boyfriend-- that she almost married--is a complete jerk. Which is pretty much the same build up for Fantasy Lover. In this case Kenyon had nothing new to bring to the story. The two get handcuffed together by the villain, they start pawing each other, they "fall in love," deny each other because they're not good enough for each other, seemingly betray each other, and then the happy ending. One can argue that the leading male isn't trapped in a book this time around, but really it's still the same story. The only truly good part about this read was the shadow of humor from Fantasy Lover and a look into Kenyon's modern world of Greek mythology. The idea behind the Dark Hunters is truly awesome and the glimpse at the other characters whoms stories need to be told is truly a treat. Meeting the gods is fun, even though it was only one Goddess in the case of Night Pleasures. In the end this book failed for me on an emotional level. It simply felt like a cheap imitation of Fantasy Lover. The only redeeming feature was that the reader gets a glimpse of Kenyon's Dark Hunter world. There are a lot more characters out there to be explored and mythology that I can't say no to. Even after this disappointment I'm ready to keep going with the series. Sexual Content: References to rape and talk about raping. Full graphic sex scenes as well as graphic talk. Rating: 2/5- Average/disappointing, library check-out Originally posted at Book Whispers

Park's The Pediatric Cardiology Handbook, 5th edition Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

Storm Front is the first book in Butcher’s Dresden Files where Harry Copperfield Dresden is introduced. Harry is a wizard who works in midtown Chicago, Illinois. He is the only practicing wizard in the country and you can find him in the yellow pages under “Wizards.” How funny is that to have such a character selling his services for hire out in the yellow pages? Harry is a regular “Joe” trying to make ends meet. He is a bit irresponsible, much like those guys who would rather sit in front of the television watching sports and eating chips and drinking beer than working. Harry is perhaps a bit on the lazy side. He can’t pay his bills on time and he is not really that active in taking on work. He has this sense of entitlement as if he is a bit special because he has powers and other people don’t. When I first started reading Storm Front, I found Harry to be a bit of a jackass. His personality is quirky and some would call him an anti-hero. He is the type that if he found a wallet on the street, he would take the money out of the wallet and throw it in the garbage can. He is the one who hits on the girls with the lame pick up lines and never goes home with the girl at the end of the night or gets a phone number. Harry is a bit of a loser. He is everything I do not like in a man. From time to time, Harry is a consultant for the Chicago police. Lieutenant Karrin Murphy is his contact there and she doesn’t care for Harry either. But when a crime occurs that is a bit on the supernatural side, she calls Harry to come in and help her out. I have the feeling that Harry is Karrin’s last resort. Because Harry needs the money dearly, off he goes with his feet dragging. A high priced prostitute and her client are found dead in bed. Their murder is quite gruesome with their torsos torn out and blood all over the place. It looks like magic was used in a foul way and now Harry has to figure out who is responsible for this horrible crime and why. Harry is going to wish he was never involved in this case. The head of the Chicago mob wants Harry to sit back and do nothing and The White Council who keeps tabs on wizards like Harry thinks he is responsible for the killings. Harry is already on probation by the White Council because sometimes Harry uses his magic in unethical ways. There is also a mysterious creature called the Shadowman who uses dark magic and wants to get rid of Harry. Harry also has to deal with some interesting characters such as a freaky vampire queen, fairies, a newspaper reporter who wants the next big scoop and who Harry is close to defenseless against her feminine wiles. Harry doesn’t have many friends except for his cat Mister and Bob the Skull who is a spirit of the air, a faery who lives inside a skull and helps Harry. Bob is a bit vocal and tells Harry like it is. I really came to like Bob. Jim Butcher is a wonderful author and Storm Front was a fun and exciting read. This is a fast paced story that fans of Urban Fantasy and magic will surely enjoy. I usually come to like the main character the author brings to life on paper but I am still on the fence when it comes to Harry. The only reason he comes out on top and saves the day is because of luck. The catastrophes that comes his way and the way he survives them is not necessarily because of his skill but because of some oops or mistake on part of the bad guys. Harry is the poor man’s version of MacGyver. Harry may not be my favorite hero of all time but Storm Front gave me some laughs and groans, but all in good ways. If you were like me and haven’t read Jim Butcher, I would recommend you read Storm Front and see if Harry Dresden is the man for you.
