UGH! This book was more like a series of essays and short stories than a novel. Some of the threads are more interesting than others but overall I ended up skimming the majority of the book. I would not recommend.

Wow. The way this was written, it was so easy for me to imagine my own childhood - and how it might have felt to have it turned upside down by war. Zlata was such a true voice, and one of the simple wisdom of a child.

I'm glad the focus shifted a little more on to Cole and Isabel. Grace and Sam are perfect, but, well...they're perfect, and I already know them so well. All the characters really matured in this, and it was good to see. There were a couple plot holes/perfect coincidences, but you know.. Thank you, JoAnn :)

I really liked this book but it took me a while to get through, probably because I had to set it down after each story. It was a really quick read though and brought up a lot of interesting ideas.
It was mostly enjoyable, but it wasn't my favorite. I thought the plot was a bit disjointed and several of the plot points were not very well-developed and left me feeling a bit "so what?" I had the first plot point figured out very early, but I'm not sure if it was because it was obvious or because that's the way I would have written it.

Book Review Thirteen Reasons Why is written by Jay Asher in 2007. The book is about a girl named Hannah who records cassette tapes for the reasons why she committed suicide. She has thirteen different reasons why and sends them to twelve different people from her school. One of the narrators is one of the receivers, named Clay Jenson. He finds it unbelievable that Hannah would do something like that. Clay also thinks she could have taken the reasons in a different context before she committed suicide and hurt others mentally. This book would be good for someone to read if they enjoy things that are very realistic, but fictional and mysterious. I suggest this book to the age range of 13-17 because it deals with people in that age group and I think they can learn what goes on through high school life. (Ninth grade project review)
Obviously loved it...Tina is awesome. It's also fun that I know some of the people and did the summer theater program she talks about...but besides this, Tina Fey is hilarious.
I enjoy Tan's book particularly The Kitchen God's Wife and One Hundred Secret Senses.

January 28-31, 2014 It's been a long time since I read this book!! I didn't even remember how it ended!! It's amazing what my brain retains and what it doesn't! It really is a great book though. It even has a moral! Everyone can do something to help others, no matter how pathetic your circumstances may be... I really love Ed Kennedy... I'm so proud of him for all the growth he manages through the story! :) Definitely worth reading! July 26-27, 2009 It's only been 2 1/2 months since I read this book? WOW, my memory needs HELP! Anyway, I really liked it the second time through. During this reading, I noticed how much swearing there was. I didn't remember that from before. I think the thing I liked most was seeing Ed grow from a pathetic card-playing, under-aged cab driver who sucks at sex to what he turns into by the end. Gives me hope for myself, I think. I can't tell you how much I identified with Ritchie on this reading... Sad, but true... :P May 7, 2009 This book was really really good. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. 4.5 stars, I think. I've definitely never read anything like it, but it was great. So, it's about this guy who gets a playing card delivered to his house. The ace of diamonds. And it's got three addresses on it. So he goes to each house and has to do something for the person/people who live there... And it continues for the aces of clubs, spades, and hearts. That description... was really sucky. It was really awesome though. There's a lot of mystery, quite a bit of action, a lot of feel-good stuff, a bit-o-romance... from a guy's perspective. I've never been inside a boy's head, but I felt like the way Zusak wrote Ed's thoughts (about attraction to girls, kissing, sex, etc.) could REALLY be accurate. Very, very honest and refreshing... (Ed is NOT a macho man at all!) ;) Anyway, great read. Loved the narrator for the audiobook. Oh, I don't want to forget that part. AUSSIE ACCENT. *SMOKIN'!*
