I won this book in a first read giveway. I really enjoyed this book. This book however is definitely a "foodie" mystery. Each chapter was sprikled with a lot of food and it has recipes in the back. I found this a charming and easy to read book. Nothing too surpising but a good read. This book has characters that are (for the most part) likeable and you root for them. This book also seems like a good first mystery for anybody wanted to try this genre

This book took me a long time to read. But it was well worth it. I work in a clinic in MN with 1/3 of our patients are hmong. It really opened my eyes to their culture. The story is true and really acurate in cultural ways. It really was fun to relate some parts of the history with my hmong co-workers.

Khaled Hoseini launched the book at the right time when the whole world was curious about Afghanistan. A prolific writer he creates an emotional backdrop making the reader empathiise with his characters. I loved the book

A Very Long Book Club selection. Ever so sprightly an introduction to the cutting edge of microeconomics. Unusually well-written for the genre, and also less polemical than most. For instance, I can appreciate Gary Becker but after a little while you get tired of hearing that greater individual choice is the answer to everything from healthcare costs to global warming. Leavitt seems genuinely not to care what the answer to a particular question might be, as long as it's an amusing process to get there.
I have to admit... the two-three page chapters were a bit nice.... made it feel like a quick read. At first, it felt a little trashy, then I embraced it, and it paid off in the end. Wasn't expecting that one!

I think it would be impossible for any book to live up to the hype of Madame Bovary but it was good and I am glad I read it.
I just had to find a book about pets as that's all I can think about lately. I'm so excited because my puppy just went outside by itself for the first time, hoorah! It's freezing outside! Anyway I digress, *coughs* I love the way the girl in the story interrupts her parents, the illustrations are brilliant and really capture the mood and essence of the need for a pet. Do you remember when you were little (of course you do) and you wanted something badly, you'd interrupt at any given point to beg your parents. This is a funny story in that the ending will surprise you. Enjoy.

I enjoyed Kite Runner, but his second book is better.

This book has the most extensive description of sensations a woman may experience during labor and childbirth of any of the pregnancy books I've ever read. At 5 months pregnant, I feel so much more prepared after having read this. The beginning is a bit self-helpy, but when she gets to the nitty gritty (say, of understanding the difference between early and active labor or of knowing when to go to the hospital), the book becomes an indispensable guide for any woman who wants to experience birth with as few medical interventions as possible.
