** spoiler alert ** After reading a number of "meaty" books, I enjoyed the comparative lightness of this. While, admittedly, the story wasn't all lightness, the writing was light and easy to read, and I was able to get through it quickly, which is something I really like in novel. I was disappointed in the ending, though. Maybe I should be happier that the ending wasn't predictable, but I would have preferred one that was, because this one felt incomplete. But, in the meantime, it was a nice journey.

I really liked this book. It had that classic "Hale Tang" to it, that made me want to start over the minute I was done, because it was so good. I love that the main character isn't a Princess, or necessarily beautiful, but that she is still able to lead a life which satisfies herself. Or something. Just go read it.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. I read "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova and could not put it down. This particular book I tried and tried to finish, but the story never grabbed me. This just wasn't the book for me. I will read this author again in the future in hopes that the next story will be more my style.

Delicately beautiful. When I read it for the first time, I thought it was boring and I spent more than 3 weeks to read this book. Then in the middle it started to be totally awesome. Helen Dunmore's vision of Ingo is totally clear. I can feel Sapphire's feeling when she comes to Ingo for the first time, also when she lost her dad. Three thumbs up!

I just finished reading wicked it gave me a different view than the one I had of the wicked witch of the west. It created a soft spot in my heart for Elfaba (the witch) and an altogether different view of Glinda as well. It addresses predjudice and jealousy. I am now reading Son of a Witch. Maguire has a fun way of introducing a look from the other side of stories we already know.
