An interesting but not a riveting read. Julian comes across as an intelligent man, driven by a fractured childhood. A gifted hacker who, by serendipitous circumstances crosses paths on the internet with a troubled young US Army private, who unbelievably had access to reams of sensitive military and diplomatic traffic. This book, written under the auspices of The Guardian, gives us a shallow view of a silly imbroglio that by all rules of statecraft, should have never happened. As is normal in today's America, no General or politico will be punished or relieved of duty. Everything will be focused on a kid just three years off the high-school playground. Read the book, but don't expect much more than you already knew.

The definitive Anatomy guide. I just picked this up and have spent many hours reading some of the areas I find most relevant to my course work, and also to read some areas that I'm just curious about. I'll never actually finish this book as I consider it a valuable reference rather than casual reading.

If you have a member of your family with Alzheimer's or know anyone at all who is suffering from this disease, run, don't walk, run to the nearest bookstore and buy this book. It will change how you look at this disease and you will have so much more empathy and compassion for anyone suffering from it. I absolutely loved this book. This could happen to any one of us and the book takes us through the progression of the disease in a young very well respected Harvard professor. It is amazing how her husband and family dealt with Alice's condition. You will laugh, you will cry. You must read this book.

A really good look at the history of Harlem, which has had a lot more influence on American culture than is often understood.

This is the story of the most famous swordsman of all time. He was on the wrong side of Sekigahara, he was a bully, and he was a young puck who thought he had all the answers, so naturally he found himself in quite a lot of trouble. After bumbling through life making all the wrong decisions and escaping death through luck or fate, he finally ends up locked in a small, forgotten room in the top of a castle. This room has nothing but books in it and after being taught to read he turns to them as he has nothing else to do. Like a caterpillar coming out of it's cocoon he came out of his imprisonment a new man. Meanwhile the woman who had faithfully waited for him during his years of imprisonment was set to meet him at a bridge near the castle only to find he had carved the word 'sorry' into the railing; he decided to live the life of a shuugyosha (one of travels around challenge others to a duels, always trying to increase their reputation and skill as a fighter), the story only get's more interesting from there, I wont ruin it for anyone but, he truly did live a life full of epic battles with all the extra fixings.

joseph heller's catch-22 is my favorite comedy to date. the wit and irony that flow throughout this organic piece of literature makes it something really easy to enjoy reading the first time... and still catch yourself laughing on the hundredth read. man... now i want to go read it again...

** spoiler alert ** Lots of discussion as to whether it could truly be understood by someone not Jewish. Those that were Jewish in the group expressed great discomfort with the self-loathing aspect.

The saddest thing about this book is that it seems to be accepted as a serious contribution to the dialogue in this country about post-9/11 xenophobia and the attendant deterioration of civil public discourse...instead,it's a Ripped-From-The-Headlines Pot-Boiler complete with stock "Liberal" and "Conservative"characters with all the depth of FOX/MSNBC caricatures instead of anyone who might not conform to the banality of the CableNews Playbook...very,very disappointing, especially in light of the glowing reviews...

Quirky book. I love prose poems.
