I enjoyed this story a lot. Still trying to get through Middlesex... I just can't get past the brother/sister incest (ewww).

An emotionally complicated and touching story. This book is no longer in print so if you can find it GET IT! I was given this book to read by a good friend who had just had a son. It came with the warning of "Dude this will bust you up inside." Okay maybe I'm paraphrasing but that is the gist of it. The book is the story of two dads who have to handle the death of a young boy. One man is the father of a son who was killed in a car accident, while the other man is a father who hit the young boy and then drove off in a panic. There are further complications as both family's are torn at the seems trying to deal with the death and the lies that surround the accident. There are no good or bad characters here just human nature. You find yourself loving and hating them all at the same time. If you want to really feel something from a book, have your life's mentality change towards a subject due to a piece of fiction, find this book and make it part of your library. I've bought it 4 times and given it away 3 times to share it with someone in my life. I swear it will become one of the best books you've ever read!

one of my all time favorites. witty, profound, life lessons learned.
I read this when I was a security guard. I would sit at my desk monitoring the phone and checking the cameras - and reading this book. It wasn't until I was about 100 pages in that I started to really enjoy the book. Once I got that far in the story it started to stick with me when I wasn't reading it and I found myself thinking about the characters while driving to work or out on patrol. I am really happy to have read it. I find thick tombs too intimidating these days. Plus - the old drunk Russians are not known for writing about Vampires doing it - which is another turn off. Alot of the books I read have Vampires in them - And apparently Vampires are REALLY horny. Which is kind of surprising with their long life span you would think they would kind of get beyond such things. *shrugs*

It doesn't have too many original concepts, but it was still great to read about it.

This was the most boring book of this series. Thought I would never finish it.
This book is about a young girl coming of age and growing up in New York on the Upper West Side. great book - easy read.
I really love these Amish stories. These Hearts of Middlefield books are simple, but enjoyable. Like the one before it, there are two stories in this book. The one about Anna and Lukas from the back cover and another one about Aaron (who was a character from book one in the series) and Elizabeth. It seems that all the books center around one family, the Bylers. In this case, Elizabeth and Lukas are both Bylers and then the two people they are involved with are from other families. I have read other Amish series in the past and this one is interesting to me because the Amish people seem to be more modern than in other Amish books I've read. They have indoor plumbing and use gas for light, as well as battery operated devices. They also buy groceries from a grocery store and eat things like potato chips and candy bars, which seems weird to me. I'm not sure if that is accurate or not. I know that not all Amish communities are the same, so I'm assuming it is probably accurate enough. If you like a good book with an interesting plot line, these books are very good. I would say they are fairly predicable, but in a good way and the characters are very enjoyable - pretty real.

I remember reading this book in my bedroom as a child under the covers with a flashlight so that my parents woudn't know that I was still awake. This is one of the best Stephen King books that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of his books. Did you think that the movie was creepy? Read the book.
