It was ok. Too dramatic in places, and I never truly connected with the female character.

loved this book!!! Read it if you haven't
Much like the author, I was borderline obsessed with the Chronicles of Narnia until I grew up and learned about all the Christianity hidden in there, which took most of the fun out of it. But that really isn't enough subject matter for a whole book.

I give this book four stars not because I agree with everything, but because it was engaging and certainly got me thinking. I listened to it and it was read by the author which made it all the more energized and at times, yes, infuriating. I think a lot of her assertions about Chinese and Western parenting were sweeping generalizations and I wish she had referred to her style more as extreme parenting. Many of her views and opinions made sense. But this is one highly elite, control freak, type A mother that can be found in many cultures.

Mowgli continues his search for Bigby through Russia and the wilderness. Meanwhile, Snow White tries to raise the cubs at the Farm. (view spoiler) It's all very saccharine...none of it had any tension or stress. Even Bigby's mission to destroy the Adversary's greatest resource felt lackluster.
This book is a stunning. there's really no other way to describe it. I sat down to read it one afternoon and found that I had finished it by late in that night. I couldn't put it down or step away from it. This should go back into schools as mandatory reading.

This is a great book for teenagers- the main character reminds me a lot of Holden Caulfield. Covers a lot of issues that many teenagers face and is very real in its frank manner.
I loved it. It was very well told, great and unique characters without a lot of that yucky teenager junk that you get so often in books. It felt very pure and innocent compared to most YA books because of the unique situation of the main character. good read summer read.

This book is very well-written. Each chapter is told from a different point of view than the previous one, and at first I found this switch of narrators jarring, but after I got used to it, I liked the variety. It's a tragic story, but I was able to sympathize with all the characters because Truman Capote's writing conveyed everyone's side. I appreciated the journalistic research that went into the book, and I liked how he subtly semi-inserted himself into the novel toward the end.
Yet another story about the Holocaust that I didn't realize was about this subject! A quick, surprise ending. Poignant and interesting. The taxidermist's smile at the end is still haunting me!
