First part almost made me lose interest, with a lot of talk about the magic system. This did not feel at all like the Night Angel trilogy which I really liked. But second half was much better and I will continue with book two.

One of the few glimpses of propaganda material in the North Korea, the North Korean Posters: The David Heather Collection features a collection of posters with a wide range of subjects and messages. Although the posters are also briefly explained, the major contribution of this book is the imagery: the encouragement to grow more and larger water-melons (food for a growing population of farm pigs), the call to arms against imperialist forces, the appeal for more attention to education, the praise for acknowledging the struggle of steel workers, etc. An excellent collection and a must-read for anyone interested in Communist regimes and their downfall.

From Midnight Children on, seems that Roshdie’s preference moves tward the language rather than the narration itself. Comparing ”The ground beneath of her feet” and ”Midnight children” one comes to a more beautiful language but less interesting events. در اثار رشدی زبان از زیبایی خارق العاده ای برخوردار است. واژه هایی که رشدی در زبان انگلیسی ابداع می کند و عمدتن مخلوطی از انگلیسی هندی- بریتانیایی ست، گاه به توجیه صحنه، عمل یا شخصیت در روایت کمک شایانی می کند. بسیاری از واژه های ابداعی رشدی در انکلیسی بریتانیای امروز به راحتی جا افتاده و معمول شده است. در "زمین زیر پای او(زن)" آن چنان که در "بچه های نیمه شب" و "شرم" دیده ایم، داستان دیگر به اندازه ی فضا سازی و بیان منظور از اهمیت بالایی برخوردار نیست.

This was a great story about a young girl named Amy living in New Zealand in the 1880. she endured taking care of dad and bothers, then her stepmom, and so much more. I really enjoyed this book. I got it for free from Barnes and Noble. I liked it so much I bought the 3 other books that go with it.
