** spoiler alert ** I absolutely loved Enders Game. The constant criticisms of this Sci-Fi masterpiece didn't bother me whatsoever. I picked this up yesterday and literally only put it down for about 2 waking hours and then while I slept. This novel captivated me entirely. I've never been a huge fan of science fiction, but I have read one Card's previous works, Pastwatch, that I really enjoyed, however I liked Enders Game even more. And this why: 1. I got emotionally attached to the characters, which doesn't happen often. I read states that complain of the one dimensionality of the characters, but I think that's the way Card intended. The characters represent values, Good vs. Evil, Compassion vs. Ruthlessness. And even then, the characters change, evolve, learn new behaviors. When Ender felt depressed, I felt depressed; I hated Peter, no matter what he did. Card wrote that character perfectly. 2. His imaginative take on the my link text">Monomyth. Orson Scott Card helped the Monomyth Theory become much more known due to his telling of Ender Wiggins tale. 3. The plot felt very real, despite how "out-there" it went. I was able to feel the terrible crushing fear of a bugger invasion. I was able to feel the relief that the bugger menace was gone. Then upon realization that the Buggers were good, not evil, sentient beings, I felt that same sweeping feel of horror that Ender describes. At no point did I think to myself "This is stupid, why did he put this in here?" The only real thing that I have to complain about is Card's liberal use of time. We can go through a day in 5 pages, and then 5 months in page. I wish he would have established a more constant us of time in relation to pages. Or at least explained what happened in the time we missed. Often times the reader has to assume that nothing has changed in the time that we weren't privy to reading about. Overall, this book is definitely in my top 10 favorites of all time. I am not particularly a fan of Sci-Fi, but this novel completely captivated me. Anyone looking for an entertaining, yet deep, read, pick up Enders Game.

The style of writing in this book didn't quite work for me, but the story is so amazing that it overcame any shortcomings I found in the writing. Mortenson really is a man different than any other.

This was an interesting read. I felt that some characters were very shallow. This book made me appreciate my husband and my life; life/marriage is what you make of it--it's not up to chance or fate.

This is perhaps ancient Greece's most famous tragic trilogy that has survived antiquity. "Agamemnon" deals with the treacherous murder of King Agamemnon, just returned from the Trojan war, at the hands of his wife, Clytemnestra, and his brother (who had an affair with his wife and coveted the throne). "The Libation Bearers" brings karmic and bloody retribution upon Clytemnestra at the hands of her only son, Orestes, avenging the death of his father. "The Eumenides" deals with Orestes flight from 'the furies,' demon-like creatures who are hellbent on exacting justice for the unforgivable sin of matricide, with a climax of Orestes appealing for mercy and clemency from the gods of Olympus for his "crime." A fascinating read with such descriptions that one cannot help but imagine the scenes that take place. Highly recommended!
