Admittedly, I should probably re-read this one. But I did not love it when I was 20.

Writing is good, but story never quite comes together

I enjoyed this story. There were times that the garment descriptions made me skip sentences, but it is about a clothing store so it made sense. The mystery was good, and the characters were very likeable. On to the next one!

Inspiring Book. Simple and Fun.
I found myself liking this story a whole lot more than "Old Man Logan." It was more engaging and believable as far as a Marvel Universe future. One of the best things in this is how the patented 'snikt' ages into the arthritic (and possibly rusted) 'sklitch.' That one sound effect, I think, makes the book. I did have some concerns about the possible future (not as many as "Old Man Logan"), but I wonder if that comes from not knowing enough of some of the current Logan stories (I'm still in the late 90's). I'm not sure how much I buy the new brother (what happened to Sabertooth as the brother?). The unclear demise of Xavier. X-Men as officials. Etc.

Men of the Otherworld focuses on the male werewolves: Malcolm, Jeremy, and Clayton Danvers. I had not read these stories when they were available on Armstrong's website so it was a great way to get their background stories. While it is definitely not necessary to know this information when reading the books of Women of the Otherworld, knowing so many more details about the men does add a new dimension to those books. Now we understand why Jeremy is different from the other werewolves and how Clayton came to be so damaged. Although the book contains two short stories and two novellas, Armstrong's focus on the werewolves and movement through time make it easy to forget that this isn't just a single novel.

Perfect book for the graduating student
To be honest, this is a really bad book, it does not deserve the attention it gets; but in saying that- it is a masterpiece in comparison to its sequels. The author has a warped view of men. Bella is a bad role model for the tweleve and fourteen-year-olds who are reading it as she brings the feminist movement back about 30 years, and the author needs to attend some writing classes to learn about overuse of adverbs. Plot wise: well, the moment I finished reading it I reflected and could not remember a thing that happened. Don't waste your time.

Classic stuff from the good old days, when men were men, women were women, and the FBI recruit was a were wolf. My blog entry: http://billchance.org/2011/06/30/the-...
My favorite of all the Lowry books. There is something about the main character, Kira, that really spoke to me. Very different than The Giver, but with the same type of message.
