Beautiful, powerful book that'll make you laugh and cry: sometimes at the same time. Irving is a genius; this book proves that fact, once and for all.

This young adult book is excellent. It is a fictional story about a true person, Helmuth Huebener, who "is a boy who dared to speak out for the truth." It was so interesting, because the perspective is of a young German boy who knows in his heart of hearts that what the Nazi party does is wrong, and that people must be told the truth, despite the risk. Part of what is so fascinating/terrifying is the hold that the Nazis had on everything-even those who felt they were wrong would go along with them because to disagree was to turn you into "an enemy of the state." The Nazis take over the schools, the radio, the newspapers, and it reminds you of how important and sacred are the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press. I picked up this book because it caught my eye, and I figured it would be interesting for male YA readers- but honestly I think anyone would be interested in this story. It's written on a level that is easy enough for middle schoolers to understand, but is interesting enough to captivate an adult's attention, as it did mine, especially if you teach about the Holocaust. There is also an an entire explanation at the end of the book about what really happened, which was great because of course you are curious at the end.

My son loves this book a lot. He especially loves that Duck messes up in trying to learn to use the potty, and that he can point to the "yucky poo poo" when Duck misses. I don't particularly love that part, but it's written for toddlers, so I'm not really the intended audience. He has actually memorized this book and loved it so enthusiastically that I'd go so far as to say it's at least half responsible for his potty training by 2 years and 2 months. "No more diapers Duck!" became his battle cry when squirming away from the diaper I'd try to put on him for going places or for bedtime. So, if you're trying to get your kid interested in potty learning, this might be a good book to add to the bedtime story rotation.
Miss Marple wins again and again in this collection of stories featuring the charming detective at her best.

Well done story about the Lost Boys of Sudan but it got a little repetitious about three quarters of the way through. I had to fight the urge to skim. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

Yecht. At times cliché and at times melodramatic. You can almost see the veins on Hosseini's forehead thumping in desire to make you cry.

This was my introduction to Kingdom theology. Well worth the read. This book completely shifted my understanding of Christian faith. This would go on my top five list of books that influenced my faith.
This book is not even funny.

I really enjoyed the last book in the Harper Connelly series. I think Harris wrapped everything up nicely. The final twists were a bit of a stretch and there were some minor issues with the book but overall a great read and a great series! I highly recommend it.
