A very unpretentious and gripping account of the 1996 Everest disaster that was unsettling and fascinating at the same time. For me, it raised questions about human morality and made apparent the sheer madness of high altitude climbing. The same rules do not apply above 26 000 as at sea level and small mistakes can have monumental outcomes - those lucky enough to make it down alive were still trapped on Everest for months after their return, grappling with internal feelings of guilt, relief and everything in between, whilst having to cope outwardly with widespread criticism and anger from the public. But what truly shone through for me in this incredible account is the strength of the human desire to live, even when death appears to be the only possible outcome.

Amusing. Geez, there sure were a lot of catty women in this book.

Frankly, I found this acclaimed innovative dytopian science fiction novel irritating. The bibliographical card written at the time says simply "poor scifi."

I really enjoyed reading this, the characters were likeable, the story fast paced and some fascinating ideas in there. It really gets you thinking.

Not many coyote encounters in this book. However, it is a facinating journal of a man hiking throught he trails (and no trails) of Oregon. The author paints a great picture in your mind of the earth I so dearly love.

When I was young, one of the classics that I read and enjoyed was Dracula by Bram Stoker. When I was in the Columbus Ohio airport in October 2008, I saw people buying this book. I had more than 2 hours to wait for my flight so I picked this up. To my surprise, I was able to finish this before landing in LAX. I did not know then that this will be turned into a movie and I did not really enjoyed this because of Edward. It actually brought back the memories of Dracula from that classic novel. Also, the story telling is straightforward and easy to understand.

I vaguely remember being intrigued.
Some of these stories are really insane and awesome and some are "eh." Which I guess is like most anthologies.

Book one of the DeGranville trilogy. Great historical fiction set in the Crusades including a wonderful horse who ends up with more than one owner.
about 1/2 of it was personally applicable and relevant to my life.
