The first chapter of this book blew my mind. I am moving through this book slowly, savoring ever exercise.

Setting a Purpose: 2/25/11 Why did he shoot himself? Why was he planning to kill someone? Why does he turn on himself? I think I will learn what position he was in when he killed himself and why he doesn't kill the other person. I think I possibly will learn, why someone would kill themself, through this book.

OH MY GOD. Being in junior high school was like my worst nightmare. It's good to read something funny about that, it helps to ease the angst. Thank you.

brilliance: "Life is painful and disappointing. It is useless, therefore, to write new, realistic novels. We generally know where we stand in relation to reality and don't care to know any more. Humanity, such as it is, inspires only an attenuated curiosity in us. All those prodigiously refined notations, situations, anecdotes ... All they do, once a book has been set aside, is reinforce the slight revulsion that is already adequately nourished by any one of our "real life" days."

Fast Food Nation is another book that came insanely highly recommended to me and to which I ended up saying, "Meh." I suppose people thought this book was revolutionary and epiphaniacal because it exposes so many dirty practices about the fast food industry. But there wasn't that much in the book I didn't already know. What there was that was new to me I found quite dry and boring, like an overcooked, undersalted french-fry. I recommend the much snappier Reefer Madness by the same author.

I thought this book was really fabulous. I loved the way it was written and I was so into it that I felt everything that Sarah was going through, whether I wanted to or not. This book was funny, terrifying, devastatingly sad, and hopeful all at once. I loved reading about such a strong woman in the late 1800s; I highly recommend this book.

This is my take on the whole series: I read these due to all the buzz about it from Michelle at volleyball. I thought it was a lovely, entertaining read, and I could hardly stand to put these down. Kudos to Stephenie for turning something like vampires into an enjoyable read, but certainly fiction though, so I can't understand the people that get a little to carried away by the emotions in these book and get unrealistic expectations for they own relationships. I could have easily done without the middle two books in this series. I think it was book 2 that actually really ticked me off, but I can't remember now for sure.
