Whatever bro. I'd rather read Cesaire.

While I enjoyed reading this book, a scientist friend of mine (who knows the author) cautioned me that what the author might present as widely accepted in the scientific community might just be fledgling theory.

This was my first Ellen Hopkins book, and now that I have read it I have no idea how I have never read one of her books before. I was afraid at first that the story line would be hard to follow given that it is from 3 different people and written in poetry form, but it isn't. The story flows smoothly. It captures attention. It is hard to put down. I enjoyed it a lot. More than I thought I would. I now find myself really wanting to read Tilt (the companion piece to this one). I want to see this world from the eyes of the kids now.

What a cheesy book! The only reason I finished it was because it was short. I don't know how this became such a famous book. I will never read anything by this author again.
Yawn. Now that he's reverted Artemis to a more complex character, he has to put the petulant voice into the villain. Do even kids like such simplistic characters over and over again? (6)
this was a great book! this is a useless review! Loved the narrator; the story arc of her teen years in California; the not-preachy, but redemptive ending.

I actually enjoyed this first in a series book better than The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, the first in the more popular series. I’ve just read the first book in each of the series, although I meant to keep reading and maybe someday I will. I particularly liked the relationship between Isabel and her niece Cat.

This was by far my favorite book to read. There were many positive qualities about this book that made me enjoy this book. My favorite thing about this book was the imagery. Every page seemed to be filled with similes, metaphors, and descriptive words. It was fascinating to read this book with the imagery, but it was also the characters I enjoyed reading about. While several of the other books had very lackluster characters, in this story I learned all about the lives of every single character in this book. Normally, this would be annoying to read, but the way the author split up the chapters in the book to switch every few paragraphs to a different person made the reading much more interesting. At first, this method of writing was confusing and hard to follow, but after about 100 pages of this book, I had trouble putting it down. All in all it was a very interesting book to read, and without a doubt was my favorite summer reading book.
