My 11th grade English teacher, because he was so excited that I actually read the book (unlike my classmates), accidentally called me "Hester" instead of "Heather" in class and I didn't live it down all year. I did like this book, however. Hawthorne's tale is rich and haunting and more than relevant today. I think I need to re-read this one soon.

This book was faster paced and more engaging then the first. This book gets deeper into the creepy potential set up by the first book. Zoey Redbird, vampire fledgling, has unusual abilities for a fledgling, and her powers seem to be growing. The storyline was more involved than the first novel, and the characters are becoming more developed. Betrayed is a great second installment to this series.

This was a great book to read just before our trip to Italy. The details of the renaisance in Florence from the book made the trip even more fun. The ending was totaly corny and felt like a not so well thought out cop out.

Pretty much what it says on the tin, but baby fic and a lot of the contrivances needed to make it work doesn't really work for me. Does a lot of telling, not showing, but it's supposed to be a fairy tale.
