** spoiler alert ** AN AMAZING BOOK! Such a powerful story! I really loved it. Gaskell is an amazing and talented writer. The book may be a little slow to readers who do not read that many classics and the language may be a little difficult to understand, but besides that, this book is one of the best books out there. It's a story about love, learning from mistakes and ultimatly forgivness. Read this book, and you wont forget it!

I wish there was a 4.5 star, but since there isn't, I will have to rate this a 4. What a journey this young woman experiences! Told through her writings of her journal, it's her experience told from her perceptions. It would be interesting to read a journal written by the mother about what REALLY happened. I've been told by many of my students this book was "amazing". It kinda reminds me of the movie "Reefer Madness" in how it might give readers enough fear to be more careful about their surroundings and what drugs can do to a person.
