Really fun novel. Made me wish I was a 1950's working woman in New York!

A great collection touching on the failure of Woodstock 99, the odd dedication of bar bands, a look back at the history of Run-DMC from a diehard fan and an unearthed ramble from Lester Bangs (among others). Pretty much every story is good.

Loved this book. It's so good!
Fang has got to be my favorite character, along with Iggy, and this book in the Maximum ride series made me feel like the series might recover, though I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was the first three.
I really, really liked reading The Last Crossing. It has to be described as an epic, because it is the story of a nation, boiled down into the lives of four central narrators. Through their eyes, we see the creation of a nation, the wars and violence, the uncomfortable mixture of cultures, the travel, the hardship and love. These are big themes, but Vanderhaeghe does an excellent job of crafting an exciting tale, the search for a brother in the wilderness. It's also quite an accomplishment to successfully give voice to four narrators, weaving their stories together. The Last Crossing well deserves to be an award-winning novel that should be read by Canadians and Americans alike. Who doesn't love good frontier fiction?

We had the 2004 edition in 2007. There were problems. Like the museum with Juanita (the ice princess/mummy) had moved during the interim period. Get the most up-to-date edition that you can. Otherwise, it was another competent Lonely Planet job, if not as irreverant as some others.
Absolutely one of my favorite books to read, and to teach! It's PERFECT for high school upperclassmen.
Absolutely enjoyed this book by a local Philly author. For anyone who's into the new genre that's developed about new fictional stories that supplement previous works of literature I highly recommend this novel. The entire novel is about Huckleberry Finn's father Finn. This story provides reasons for why he's such a drunkard and traces all the crimes he commits before and after Huck entering his life. It also does an effective job or depicting the racism in Mississippi. I appreciated the way it didn't try to flower or cover up the brutality that affected many blacks as they began to win their freedom. I also met the author - and he's funny!!! Fav. Quote from novel. - "I know it"

Rather disjointed book
I doubt I'll ever finish reading this. It was ok.
