I kind of felt like this book would never end. Part III was engaging, but by that point I was so sick of Tally, I didn't even care. Both Pretties and Specials had the same story arc as Uglies: Tally is ignorant of the world, she does something wrong, she sees the error of her ways, she gets smarter. The sad part is that I truly love the world in which the trilogy is set, the philosophy behind the dystopia. Unfortunately, it was painfully too long; I think it would have been better as one book, with all the repeated drama eliminated. I had more of a sense of relief from finishing the book than any sort of satisfaction. I think I'll be taking a break before I read Extras.

Excellent and easy read considering the topic of the story is hard to swallow at times. Very difficult to put down. The emotions in the book felt very real. Book almost never make me cry; this one did.

This is a fascinating book. Werewolves. Love story. Modern day Los Angeles. Told in the style of Epic verse. It's nothing short of amazing.

Clever and fun, this master-apprentice fantasy story has some unexpected twists.

Water, water everywhere and not a drop of it to drink...or in this case, to irrigate the American West. This book painstakingly chronicles the stories and political hoo-ha behind the major water projects that opened up the American West. The most fascinating story was about the watering of Los Angeles, but from there, the book gets really tedious. It makes me glad I'm moving back to the slightly more sustainable lands of the east coast.

I have a major soft-spot, guilty pleasure, infatuation - whatever it may be - with institutional, 'loony bin' books. It's not even necessarily the fact that their in the cuckoo house, it's the fact that they're cuckoo themselves. Really now I have a great and growing interest in mental illness and really many things in the realm of pyschology and the mind. This is one of the books that addresses that - who's crazy and who's not. Who's just being quiet, who's eccentric, who's completely batshit insane and a hazard to society. I loved this book and actually found the movie to be worse. Many people love Nicholsons portrayal of McMurphy is great, but I think he underacted. Regardless of the movie, the book is great. I liked it a lot and the themes stand out. It makes you think about your own mental health and even just societal seperations - i.e., extroverts, introverts, etc. All lovely things to delve into with a book like this. It's always fun to dissemble the many nooks and crannies of the human mind. This book allows it, although not the favorite loony bin book of mine.

liked it, for the period authenticity, character depth and skilful storytelling. I agree with others that it was slow to start. For me, the most interesting part was the description of the bombing raids and ambulance workers.

This was an easy read, definitely a girl book and fairly predictable. I could book talk this with my classes. It is light-hearted with a real life element. In fact, I'm dealing with a student in class who has a crush on the "wrong boy" a very common experience. I wonder if boys get caught up in the same kinds of ways?

Amazing! I think I like it even better than Good Calories Bad Calories. I still don't agree with him 100% on exercise, ( I think there is strong evidence that exercise can aid in insulin regulation and therefore fat loss) but all in all fantastic.
