My latest Christie re-read, first read in 1975 in the US edition as REMEMBERED DEATH (though I've always liked both titles, I've never really understood the need for the title change - certainly an Agatha Christie novel with "Cyanide" in the title should have been indication enough to readers to know what they were in for, but probably her US publishers felt that her books sold better if the title included "Murder" or "Death" or something related (thus did THE HOLLOW become MURDER AFTER HOURS, and AFTER THE FUNERAL become FUNERALS ARE FATAL!). Was SPARKLING CYANIDE just plain too genteel? I'm reading the "Facsimile Edition" published by HarperCollins UK in 2010 of the 1945 Crime Club edition published by Collins (not pictured).

School’s out for the summer and Babymouse and her family are off to the beach. Babymouse goes surfing, gets sunburned, goes snorkeling, builds an awesome sandcastle, and rides the bumper cars on the boardwalk. She’s having lots of fun, but she wishes that she had someone cool to play with. Babymouse learns that sometimes friends come in weird places. Probably my least favorite of the Babymouse series, this still features the best parts about Babymouse-- crazy fantasy/daydream sequences and caustic commentary on life's little issues, as well as yelling at the narrator.

A great story that turned into a delightful movie. The book is more gruesome than the movie, and it's worth a read to see the differences in the adaptation.

Harrison doesn't believe in magic. He did, many times ago, and magic has not help his first love to live and so now Harrison has vowed himself to unveal all the tricks of the false magician. But one day Martin, a Magician with the capital M, begins to flirt with Harrison by email and tells him he his a true Magician and wants to prove himself to Harrison. The chance arrives when Harrison, with all the Brotherhood, goes to Amour Magique, where Martin lives. Harrison is a hunk man, tall and broadshoulderer. He is a leader, always top in his relationship. But Martin is a Dom and wants that Harrison gives away the command: he knows that Harrison needs to gives away it. Despite the physic appeareance, Harrison is the characters who needs reassureance, who needs love and care. Martin, as a Master, is strong and selfconsciuosness, but mantains a tender touch and a light behaviour that I like very much. This is an almost end on the Brotherhood series: Harrison is the last of the Brotherhood and the next story, maybe the conclusion, will be the story of Liam, the incubus who has spent his time to find a perfect partner to all the brothers and now he will find a man (? or something "else"...) for himself. I like very much the stories of Allen and Micah, and now I enlist also Harrison as one of my favourites brothers. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/92...
A really good read.
Two stories: (1) A crow tengu disguised as a teen idol hunts Nanami at high school. (2) Another god covets Tomoe and the shrine, steals Nanami's god-mark, and shrinks Tomoe to the apparent size and age of a five year old, making him ill from the mismatch of power and body. Nanami hauling around kid-sized Tomoe like an extra big stuffed teddy is adorable and it's nice to see Nanami doing things for Tomoe and Tomoe working his way into a more voluntary accomodation with her. But the forced misunderstandings are already tired, and the relationships are still shallow. I wasn't as wowed by Suzuki's take on the mononoke redesign in this one; both the tengu and the goddess are much more typical character types and designs than Volume 1's catfish princess.

Read it twice, listened to it at least 4 times and I'm still shaking my head.
I had to grab my poor unsuspecting cat and give her a big hug after reading this book... Anyway, I do feel pretty ashamed that I had never heard of Norton prior to reading this. I mean, this cat has traveled the world. Been to movie premieres. Met Sir Anthony Hopkins. What have I done that can compare? ;)
Neil Gaiman with visuals. To say it is well written is an understatement. He has his hints of humour but develops a wonderful and spooky tale about the more forgotten characters of legend. People remember death, angels and gods when discussing mythology, but the question is if they sleep, who controls their dreams?
