Fantastic book. Difficult subject matter, quite a bit of in-context sexual content.

A seemingly fascinating topic (judging a person by the books he/she has in their "library") made a bit tedious by Basbanes tendency to write in a stream-of-consciousness style.

I know I'm in the minority, but I had a real problem with Found. The actual "found" content is entertaining, but the layout of the pages was atrocious (lots of photo-ready pages with intentionally visible Scotch tape to mimic the aesthetic of the concept). I had a hard time getting past that. The commentaries that "finders" submitted was equally distracting and unnecessary. I felt the "found" notes, letters, etc. would be more special without knowing the who, what, when, where, and why of how they found it. Editor Davy Rothbart should have let the content speak for itself.
One of my favorite childhood books -- all the good things kids are looking for...disobedience, parental love, magic, imagination. Mmmmm...brings me back...

As all her books I loved it. It was fun to watch and see how she weaves her story.

This poetry book has a few pictures, but really it's quality poetry for young adults. This collection of poems reveals the observations and contemplation of a non-popular, probably typical high school kid working as a soda jerk during his last year in high school in a small town. Serving his customers, he has plenty of opportunity to think about the future, his identity, his goals and dreams (and the probability that he, like almost everyone else in this small town, will never fulfill them), and to make astute observations of all of his customers which he often stereotypes and/or uses as a mirror to reflect on his own values. His experiences and thoughts reminded me so much of my teenage years, and I smiled with nostalgia increasingly as I continued on in the book, happy to have started my day with it.

I had this on tape as a kid. I still remember listening to it during long car trips.
This is about the 2nd or 3rd time that I have read this. I still love it!
A respectful book dissecting Spinoza's thought via a consideration of his life. Not quite a biography, not quite a pure critque of his thought, the author demonstrates his contribution to what we know as the Enlightenment by her thought exercises playing upon Spinoza's life and times. One feels like one knows the author as well as her mentor by the end of the book. And both seem worth knowing.

Sredni Vashtar-a little bit crazy. A little bit disturbing. But great to analyse for English class. Enjoy.
