Just okay for me...

It mostly deals with Fozzy, Chris' successful rock band, but there is wrestling in there. I promise. It's fun to read, but he's not quite Mick Foley. Sorry, Jericho. :)

after reading this book i felt sooooooooo sad this book touch me and made me appreicate life even more and the love ones that care for me, meaning my firends and family.
Grabbed this freebie for kindle, it's the first book I've read on my iPhone. A little heavy handed at times but an ok quick read.
Exclusively Yours is a masterpiece of contemporary perfection. Yep, I’m still giddy with excitement over reading my first Shannon Stacey book and I literally have heart palpitations thinking about reading the second book in the series – Yes, it was that good. Was there suspense? No. Was the story action packed? No. Was there paranormal shifters or sexy vampires?? Well, its contemporary – so obviously not. But what it did have was witty dialogue, a HUGE dose of sweetly simmering sexual tension that made my knees weak and a cast of characters that had realistic issues I could relate to. To me Exclusively Yours is perfectly sculpted. I was never bored, I didn’t even contemplate skim reading and I couldn’t put it down for the life of me. I lurved it to BITS!! Keri was a realistic heroine. She wasn’t the perfect, prissy, sexy, model like heroine – she was a true woman. She had flaws, doubts and made mistakes. She was also capable of giving the bird to someone who pissed her off. And I loved her. Joe was the same, no flare, no exaggerated perfected sexiness – just a real man, who was hot as hell to me not only on the outside but on the inside too. And although he was a successful author and made of money it was never a real factor in the book. I loved how Shannon Stacey wrote a TRUE romance without all the bells and whistles of glitz and glamour. The story concentrated on emotion. The heat between the characters, the way they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other, the soft touches, sweet caresses. It gave me butterflies and had me continuously smiling. I could go on and on about this book but I won’t. However, I will encourage you to read it for yourself and to come back and let me know what you thought. I have no hesitation recommending this to anyone who loves a sweet, sexy, funny contemporary romance. Merged review: Exclusively Yours is a masterpiece of contemporary perfection. This is a phenomenal, picaresque story. Teresa (Teresita) Urrea, the Hummingbird's daughter, possessed me, made me want to dig my bare feet in the earth and rub rose petals and lavender all over my body. She is now my beloved hero of contemporary literature. Strong, courageous, formidable, guileless, beautifully vulnerable, compassionate, quick-witted, and luminescent, Teresa is a modern-day *saint* without the dismal, pious sobriety of one. She is more like a noble iconoclast. She hikes up her skirts and rides a horse better than any man, eats like a lumberjack, and engages in astral projection. She denounces organized religion and behaves more like a pantheist. She can heal with her hands, bandy words with politicians, and flirt with the infamous. The author based this work of fiction on real events in the life of an eponymous blood relation, circa 1880 (when the story also takes pace). He spent 20 years in the research and writing, which is evident in the stirring, complex, yet easily digestible, mouth-watering narration of this novel. Teresa is the illegitimate daughter of wealthy (and married) south-of-the-border rancher Don Tomas and a fourteen year-old peasant Indian woman who fled Sinaloa for greener pastures. Raised initially by her mean-spirited aunt, her adventurous spirit eventually delivers her to the house of her father at a tender, young age. The protective, flinty Huila, a medicine woman who works for Don Tomas, apprehends Teresa's destiny and mentors her in the art and botanical science of healing. Huila is also aware that Teresa has a native and inherited shamanic talent way beyond midwifery and organic medicine. Filled with a sprawling and vivid cast of characters--vaqueros, caballeros, Indians, pilgrims, politicians, the wealthy as well as the indigent, apostates as well as the devout, this is a colorful, astutely comical allegory that is ripe with thought, action, and spirit. It is a story of familial love and redemption and the vastness of the soul. It is a tale of adventure that you won't want to end. (Rumor has it that a sequel and a film is in the works.) Luis Alberto Urrea is an exuberant storyteller oozing an alchemical mixture of warmth, humor, satire, and vigorous vitality. His style is a reminiscent witch's brew of the best of outlaw and magical realism--The Milagro Beanfield War; Lonesome Dove; a dose of Garcia-Marquez; a glittering sprinkle of Isabelle Allende. But it is its own mystical and magical epic story of community and faith, of an unforgettable daughter and the people who loved her.

One of those murder mysteries you read between great fiction.

This book was everything that the Twilight series should have been and was not. Smart, funny at times, and highly engaging, it has kept me enthralled over the past few days. I am looking forward to the next book in the trilogy.

this was my first experience with mccullough, and while he hits some high notes with his prose and unearths some nuggets with his research, he largely underwhelmed this reader covering a subject that should have been easy to engage with. this felt like a very padded and digression laden 380 pages, though i will say that finding out about TR's siblings, parents, and asthma made it a worthy read overall. if you haven't done any reading on TR, stick with edmund morris (particularly "the rise of theodore roosevelt") and candace millard's "river of doubt".

This is the weakest adventure/exploration-type book I've read so far and I don't recommend it. Most of it is pretty damn boring. It gets a little more interesting towards the end, but only for a little bit. The interesting bit concerns the situation at the end of their trip down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon. No one had ever been all the way down it before, on boat or foot, so they had no idea what was in store for them. For most of the trip they had dealt with this by exploring the river carefully and pulling to the side whenever they approached dangerous rapids. They would then carry the boats over land around the rapids, a time-consuming and laborious process. But as they went down into the canyon, and the walls towered above them, they quickly realized that they might end up in a situation where there were rapids ahead but no way to get off of the river, because of mile-high cliffs on both sides. This never actually happened. What did happen was that as they ran out of supplies, they realized they just had to make a run for it, and so they just raced through the most terrible rapids. Luckily, they made it.
