One of the most intense books of the early 8th Doctor canon...and one that completely and totally deconstructs the Doctor by stripping him of everything he is, everything he can do, and everything he THINKS he can anticipate. One of Kate Orman's (and Jon Blum's) greatest contributions to the Doctor Who canon.

I had a really hard time getting into this book. Becky is just so flippin' deluded and unrealistic, it made me nuts. I did finally get through it and the ending was good. I enjoyed the last quarter of the book.

A little out of date on the medical/treatment information, but included what I thought was a very interesting discussion of Van Gogh and creativity in general. After that I sort of lost interest, but up to that point, quite the opposite.

I can't decide if the numerous poetry references were illustrative or just annoying, but once you slog through the introductory chapters, the survey of the actual science is rather interesting. Although, over all it depressed me. So much of love is actually rooted in biology; it's primitive and compelling. You can't really make it go away, nor can you arbitrarily make it come back. It's an informative book though.

The final version is definitely better and shorter Merged review: Eeeeeek! It should have stayed just like that in the published version. I know a wanted Jace to stay this mysterious guy, and that's fine but she should have made clarys POV just as intense, it wasn't that good in the book in comparison. Loved it ;) Merged review: Oh em gee! Could Jace be any freaking hotter? Doubtful!

This book was so gorgeous that it broke my heart. "You were just a boy on a bed in a room, like a kaleidoscope is a tube full of bits of broken glass. But the way I saw you was pieces refracting the light, shifting into an infinite universe of flowers and rainbows and insects and planets, magical dividing cells, pictures no one else knew ... Your whole life you can be told something is wrong and so you believe it." -Wasteland

This book dealt with some pretty realistic and tough issues - including the complications around the main "romance". There were some really cute parts.

A short, readable survey of the data for the collapse period of the 4th and 5th centuries. The author clearly shows that the end of late antiquity was anything but a peaceful drift to the early middle ages. The evidence shows virtual economic colapse and repopulation that brought the Mediterranean world back down to pre 6th century BCE levels. Highly recommended.

Jim Henson was a visionary, and this retrospective has the story, told in a fun and colorful layout that starts with his youth, through his time as a student at UMD College Park, where he started his first show, Sam and Friends, on a local DC public access network. This and the Maya Lin retrospective take the cake.

** spoiler alert ** Heck yes!!! Team Tamani Although I really wish that I hadn't read that last part. When an author issues a warning that the epilogue is sad and that is you want to be happy don't read it, listen.
