I learned alot about myself from this book. I liked it alot. Lot of self discovery. A few answers to the "what now" questions but otherwise a great eye opener.

** spoiler alert ** A satisfying read. I'm glad Briggs gave us the wedding and gave Adam and Mercy at least a few days of happy honeymooning. They deserved it after everything Briggs has put them through. The butterflies were a nice touch. *grin* I'm also really pleased that Briggs didn't just let everyone off the hook without consequences from earlier events. While having everyone recover from traumatic events by the last page is convenient, it doesn't feel very realistic. Seeing Mercy and Stefan dealing with the emotions created by events made them seem more 'real' and easier to relate to. I liked Coyote. I hope he shows up again. I'm gonna miss the walking stick. It was a fun running situation. (I wonder if Briggs planned out the situation with the stick in advance, or it just occurred to her while writing this book? Either way it was smoothly done.)

A lot of books get called "the next step for Harry Potter fans!" but I think this one actually deserves it.

Sam Stevens Mr. Rich English II 7 September 2011 Book Review A Coelho, Paulo. The Alchemist. New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 1993. Print The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho is a joy to read because it is optimistic and easy to relate to. The main character Santiago, is searching for treasure because of a reoccurring dream that he has when he sleeps under a certain tree. Through symbols and signs Coelho does not let Santiago avoid his destiny, but instead chase it. Santiago then embarks on a self-discovery journey through Africa and Egypt. The Alchemist is a book that really inspires you to go out and chase your dream just like Santiago does. The reason The Alchemist appeals to people easily, is because it has a simple plot line, a boy chasing his dream. Most people in this world have dreams or goals and we can all identify part of ourselves in Santiago who is chasing his dream. While Santiago is on his journey he realizes he discovers his personal myth. “...whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth" (Coelho 22). This quote explains the personal myth, and that is to realize your goal or dream and accomplish it leaving your personal myth. I really liked how the book talked positively about accomplishing goals and dreams and really makes the reader believe anything is possible if you want it to be. It is an ironic coincidence that while Santiago is on his mission to find the treasure, he stops in the desert and meets his soul mate. This is symbolic because it is a sign that Santiago is on the right path for realizing his personal myth and discovering his treasure. When I read this I felt as though it was meant to be and I enjoyed because it seemed like the world was in Santiago’s favor. “When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person realize his dream” (Coelho 122). I also think that since Santiago was on his journey good things were coming in his favor, this being one of them, this scene was very heartwarming to me. Santiago’s journey displays a lot of courage, perseverance, and mental strength. It gives me confidence as a reader that anything is possible when you want it to be. As Coelho writes, “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure” (Coelho 121). I enjoyed this quote because the only thing that makes something truly unachievable is if you are afraid to try it and fail. I am a very driven, goal oriented person and that is a huge reason why I enjoyed this book. The novel skillfully combines words of wisdom and philosophy which makes it a great fun read. All of us can see ourselves in Santiago because we all have dreams and are dying for other people to tell us they may come true. The Alchemist is filled with optimism and encourages all to go out and chase our goals and dreams, that is why I loved reading it so much and would recommend it to anyone.

I listened to "Olive Kitteridge" read by Sandra Burr. I grew quite attached to the main character, cranky and irascible as she is, and like the way the reader uses a Maine accent whenever Olive speaks. I didn't realize when I started the book that it is 13 linked stories. I prefer a more linear story. Like the author's prose style.

I am a great fan of Fuyumi Souryo, and above all, this particular work. Within ES, she has woven a thought-provoking story that explores the ethics of human experimentation. Along the way, she touches upon the themes of women in science, the lines between personal and professional life, and the meaning of identity. It is amazing how well the text complements the artwork, and vice versa.

Daily messages designed to support those taking a spiritual approach to weight loss. The brief messages are about two well-written paragraphs each and have a Bible verse accompanying them. The messages invite journaling or small group discussion.
Quick read. Slight Dom and Sub action. Jeanne, like almost all women on her planet was a virgin. When a man came to her house, banging outrageously at her door, she was excited to learn that he wanted more that a drink of water. Eland is a Shareem. Shareem are scientificly made for sex. There are different levels of Shareem. Eland is a level 3 which means he needs some ruffness to his lovin. Allyson James/Jennifer Ashley is picking up this series again soon.
