Very engaging as an adventure/mystery novel. Sort of a sci-fi/fantasy for adults. Would definitely recommend for others who enjoy the magic in life.

Title in German: Die Novizin Sonea is starting her training as a novice at the Magician´s Guild but she isn´t prepared for the animosity and dislike of her classmates and some teachers. Her powers are far greater than every other´s what doesn´t help her either to make friends. Especially the harassments of her classmate Regin are making her life a hell. But Sonea has another secret only Lord Lorlen and Rothen, her guardian know about. High Lord Akkarin uses the art of Black Magic which is strictly forbidden for members of the guild. And suddenly dead bodies are found all over the town killed by Black Magic.. and Lord Akkarin is taking Sonea´s training in his own hands. Honestly I was soon bored by this second book. The harassments of Sonea´s classmates were much too long-winded and nerve-wracking and made me think "No, not again!" and Regin – even as Sonea worked hard to move into second class – did follow her only that he could harass her more.. how believable is something like that? But the story itself is getting more exciting at the end of the book especially when Akkarin takes the responsibility of Sonea´s training upon himself. This was the only reason which made me read the third book I admit because I was curious to learn more about the relationsship between Akkarin and Sonea. Needed a light read on vacation. Putting the cliches, the silly dialogue, and laughable characters aside, 'Neverwhere' was a perfect book for the beach and sun.

Is it weird that I wish I was a wolf that could enjoy cuddles and comfort in bed with a whole pile of packmates? That is how immersed I became in Sebastian's world. I really enjoyed the community that came across the pages and the sense of place associated with it. I did feel for all the hardships that Sebastian and Eshan had to endure, but they got through it. I loved Konner, wouldn't mind seeing him in a sequel :)

This play is written about the bumbling courtiers in Hamlet. It's very entertaining and interesting perspective on Hamlet. I read a much older edition of this book however.

What do you get when you take David Brower, the hard-core Sierra Club conservationist, and put him in the wilderness with his "natural enemies" (e.g., a miner, a developer, and a dam-builder)? You get this book. I was totally riveted by this account of the roots of contemporary environmentalism, and about the dialogue between conservationism and progress. It's dated, of course, written in 1970 (back when people could apparently purchase houses in fancy developments on coastal islands for $50,000?!) but it was fascinating for me to think about where we were then, and where we are now with issues related to land use, conservation, natural resources, etc. I especially loved the third section of the book, where David Brower is riding the Colorado River rapids with Floyd Dominy, who was in charge of building the Glen Canyon Dam that created Lake Powell. Their boat passes over the flooded Glen Canyon--said to have been one of the loveliest places on earth before Lake Powell filled it up--and their conversations are thought-provoking, and sort of heart-breaking, too.

Obviously riding on the back of The Da Vinci Code conspiracy fad. Curious entries include the European Union.
A fun book - insightful but honestly just speculative fiction. It was entertaining and educational, and as always the USA kicks tremendous behind.

Cuentos emblemáticos de venganza. Una vez más, los estudios muy interesantes sobre la naturaleza humana y el egoísmo. Y también de nuevo, los vastos y asombrosos mundos evocados. Una lectura fascinante.
