Cover - by Anne Cain; beautiful; slightly misleading MC's - Alex, a vampire who is giving up the Life, which means he's staying more human than not. The story is told from his 3rd person POV. Alex moves to a secluded mountain home and Tate is his only neighbor. Werewolves, a small pack of 4, are Alex's friends, which goes against the traditional vampire way. During the course of the story, Alex realizes that he hasn't really gotten to know the wolves very well, and his discovery - often with Tate's involvement - of their back-stories or aspects of their personalities was a clever way to develop these characters and make them distinctive. I liked all of them. Almost all of the action takes place at Alex's house, which in less talented hands might get tedious, but there is so much going on that the house stands solid at the center. The house is old, and needs a lot of fixing-up; it's surrounded by woods, which provide a new hunting ground for the weres. The basic plot conflict revolves around Alex warming to Tate despite his wish not to. Alex is a vampire, he's got a dangerous ex out in the world somewhere, he himself is dangerous, his best friends are werewolves, etc. He doesn't want to expose Tate - who is a very nice, funny, smart and tenacious guy - to all of this. The thing I like about this was that it could have easily devolved into a lot of angst and internal monologue, but it didn't. Sarah Madison knows just how to convey this without beating it over our heads. Tate manages to get under Alex's skin anyway, and does so without doing anything stupid or over the top. The sex in the story is just right, with a believable build-up. It's very hot when they do get together. One of the wolves, Peter, gets hurt while hunting, and the pack ends up staying with Alex while he heals. This leads to the many complications that make the story entertaining. The appearance of Peter's sister was the one element I wasn't happy with - she seemed extraneous to me. The climax was exciting. I did see it coming, but that did not lessen my enjoyment one bit.

As with most Janet Evanovich books this one was very funny and lighthearted given all of the violence involved. I love when old ladies are gun wielding maniacs. The only part of this book that was a little off putting was every time the protagonists got out of one scrap they immediately fall into another. This makes it almost impossible to have any character development but what can you expect when the book only spans about five or six days. Even in the romance department she is all talk and no action literally. All in all it was what I expected out of a Janet Evanovich book.

Isadora is one of my heroes. She was so far ahead of her time.

I finished this book today it left me wanting more. These are a really good series. They for me are a very fast read. They have some Christian undertones, which i think is the basis for this series but it doesnt put you off like they have an agenda or that their beliefs are the only ones that are right.

it was adventurous and amazing. I think that whtever happens next rose will know how to handle it one way or another.
Do you love white picket fences? Do you love tract housing? Do you love the history of commuting? Then this book is for you. This book is really for anyone who has ever lived in suburbia, scorned suburbia, or wants to live in suburbia. It really is the most complete historical account of American suburbs. It's tremendously lively; there is plenty of sex and rock n'roll in Jackson's narrative. Learn about walking cities, the Great Depression, and ornamental lawns! (It's really more interesting than I'm making it sound). Just the fact that Jackson can connect these subjects makes it a book worth reading: horsecars, Frederick Law Olmsted, country clubs, cable cars, drive-in food, shopping malls, the Model T, front porches, air conditioning, and video games. He predicts that surburbanization will slow as gentrification of cities increases. However, what this could mean is no cheap housing for anybody, I suspect. A very worthwhile read.

This was a very interesting book that analyzed the relationship between parents and their children. It also held the theme about if children can be raised by robotic figures. I thought that the topic was very interesting. It made me think about the theme, and question if this indeed can happen. My view on the subject was a "no". I do not think that children can be raised by a robot, and the way a parent chooses to raise their child does impact their relationship a great deal. In the story the childs mother dies and a dad gets a robotic grandmother to fill in. In the story all was well, but in real life this would not work. I thought and wrote alot about the book and decided that a child needs a living breathing human to care for it, other wise the child would come out the way it was raised, robotic. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is a great book to have you thinking about how society is now and how children are turning out because of new technology.
Ohhh, back to school!

I was truly drawn into this book. Strong character development. The draw of some of the characters makes it hard to know how you want the situations resolved. You see all of the reasons for the decisions the charcters have made. Maybe I shold read more by Lehane...
