Sweetly is not your normal fairy-tale story. This modern tale that has its familiarities to Hansel & Gretel will creep you out. Just by looking at the cover you can expect the unexpected in Jackson companion novel to Sisters Red last year. The story has a slow build up until the very last 100 or so pages where its just a heart pounding climax. Like I said be prepared to read a new world that Jackson created in the novel. Forget those 2 kids that went to the forest, this is the new take in the fairy-tale. Ansel and Gretchen are brother and sister who lost their twin in the wood's when they were young and she was never to be found. They have no parents and step-mom kicks them out of the house. They decide to leave Washington and head to the east coat. Before arriving to their destination their cars gives out on them and they make it to South Carolina. They are given room and board by the local chocolatier, Sophia. She also gives Ansel some work while they are staying with her until their car gets repaired. This small town is not your normal small town. Young girls have been disappearing from the town. It seems that the girls missing in Live Oak might be linked some how to Gretchen and Ansel missing sister. Will Ansel and Gretchen leave again or will they stick it out in Live Oak? Will they be able to ignore those alluring sweet smells from Sophia sweets? This dark-romantic story will homage the original tale and its mythology. If you haven't picked up Sweetly, then you don't know hat you are missing. Its like the favorite piece of chocolate and you cant ever find it again. review link: http://www.onceuponatwilight.com/2011...

Just note that I read an Advanced Reader's copy of this book... and I have a feeling a little more than just the spelling mistakes may have been changed. At least I hope. 'Cause there was a fair amount of typos/spelling/grammar mistakes. Um... I say, "Um..." too much don't I? Whatever. Yeah. This is chick lit. no doubt about it. I'm not much one for chick lit., but after the last book I read I needed something fluffy and sweet. And this book is fluffy and sweet, and not just because of the dogs in it. The book was surprisingly witty a lot of the times. Very real too, emphasizing that no matter how old you are, what sex you are, matters of the heart tend to always be awkward and embarassing, especially for Nina, who constantly finds herself in those types of situations with her "love" "Daniel." I don't have much to say about this book, 'cause nothing touched me like some books will touch you. Also, I have a feeling you're not looking for a deep reflection on the book... and if you are... um... maybe you shouldn't be reading my reviews 'cause they're pretty half-assed, which is cool. Overall, the book is cute. It's a nice beach read for the summer and it will make you laugh. Put it on your summer reading list if you're looking for something that is just an easy-read. Y'know what I'm talking about? Yeah... easy read! You're out of school... you don't want to do any heavy thinking. This book won't make you so that. And if you're so against reading (then I ask, why are you here?) if this book gets enough recognition it will more than likely be turned into a Chick Flick! Yay! *barf*
