waah,, akhirnyaaa gena nyeritain ttg vampir. hehe ceritanya kali ini ttg Layel, raja para vampir di dunia atlantis. nah si Layel ini di novel2 sebelumnya terkenal jahat + sadis banget. karna obsesi dia yg pengen ngebunuh semua manusia naga.. usut punya usut nih, karna 200 tahun lalu, manusia naga ini ngebunuh istrinya (manusia bernama susan) sejak itu Layel cuma hidup buat ngeberantas manusia naga. tapi pas di tengah misi hidupnya itu, dia malah ketemua Delilah, wanita amazon, ras yg terkenal haus darah dan kuat walaupun semua berjenis kelamin perempuan. trus, tiba2 dari semua ras yg ada di atlantis, 2 prajurit terhebat tiap ras "dipanggil" oleh para dewa ke sebuah pulau buat ngikutin "permainan" hidup mati. termasuk Layel dan Delilah. otomatis mereka harus bermusuhan dunk, soalnya mereka harus nyelamatin diri sendiri dan bangsa mereka. suka banget ama tokoh layel di sini. walaupun kejam, sadis, dia termasuk tipe cowok yg setia banget. udah jelas tertarik ama delilah, tapi masiiiihh gak tega "ngeduain" istrinya yang udah mati. duuhh,, gemes bangeet deeh.. malah si delilah tipe yg agresif di sini. hmm... asik jg pas bacanya.. gak cuma cerita ttg layel-delilah aja, juga ada cerita ttg Zane-Nola (vampir dan wanita amazon), trus juga ada cerita Shivawn-Alyssa (Nymph dan vampir).

Pretty much the same stuff as the last books in the series. All the characters are starting to get a bit grating though, I think I like no one in the book all that much anymore.

Okay, I hate that five stars means, "It was amazing" and four is "I really liked it." How about just, "I loved this book" as an option? Amazing is giving it a LOT of credit, but I definitely more than "really liked" it. I thought this book was silly, funny, charming, sweet and extremely touching. Sophie Kinsella remains my favorite chick lit author, and I found this work so endearing and was completely captivated by it. So, it gets the full five-star rating for me.

This was a very sweet and funny book. The movie version really doesn't do it justice and is almost a different story all together. I'd always heard about this book when I was in elementary and middle school, but back then I thought reading a book was punishment. Now though, I see that books are our friends and not just good paper weights. I'm glad that I had a chance to read this book before I got too old to actually enjoy it. Though I think that I would've still liked it anyway. Ella is funny and witty and not much like the girl on the cover. It was easy to see the frustration and anger that Ella felt whenever she had to obey a command that she didn't willingly do. The gift of constant obedience really is a curse. I can't imagine having to always do what I'm told. I hate it when people tell me what to do! It's easy to sympathize with Ella, you root for her from the beginning all the way to the end. She's strong willed even with her curse, which gets her into trouble at times. I loved the fact that the book wasn't all about some beautiful girl and how she eventually snagged the prince...The End. It was about how we all have the strength inside of us to do even what seems impossible. I think that I would have enjoyed this book a lot more when I was a few years younger. The charm of it all didn't capture me as much as it would have if I were 13 or 14. I'm not sure if it was the cover that threw me off, but at the very beginning I kept imagining Ella to be around 12 years old when she was actually 15. Maybe it was because at the beginning some of her thoughts sounded like they were from someone younger. Eventually I got it right though. I think younger girls would really enjoy this book, but anyone could read it and still like it. A very nice story.

Mortal Engines has been one of the bright spots in my reading year so far--along with the third Bartimaeus Trilogy book! (What took me so long to read either??) I loved this to an irrational degree throughout (my criteria for five stars). But I sure would love to discuss it with more people . . . My husband got so into this book, he actually started moping around the apartment a couple days after, asking if there were sequels. That's high praise, coming from someone who only grudgingly admits that the few children's books I "make" him read are "all right" and "pretty good." Now he's reading the next one before me. It's torture. The whole time I was reading this book, I was like, Why hasn't anyone made this into a movie? They make everything else. This would be amazing! Well just recently, we got news . . . *huge grin* So hurry up and read it yourself, today! And then email me please.

I went to grad school with Jerome, and he has a rare gift for storytelling. The stories in this collection a funny, touching, and evocative in the way that only Southern storytellers can make them.

I have read Papa Papa and Mama Mama to my girls at bedtime for years. It's one of my favorite board books.
Greg Iles is a great writer of page-turning crime/thrillers. This book is a little shocking when it talks about teenage behavior, but I suspect not far from the truth, if the extreme. Great story. I read this first and it's not a series but the character, Penn Cage, first appears in another book, The Quiet Game, so I'd start with that (and he briefly appears in the current hardcover True Evil). I'm not familiar with Natchez, Mississippi, but he paints a great picture of small town life as well as the consequences of the increasing economic stratification of our American society.
