After seeing Brandon at Project Book Babe I really wanted to read one of his books. My friend Kristen really likes the Fablehaven series and I thought I would check them out. I really liked this book, it was a quick, easy read, and I got lost in the story. I couldn't wait to see what the kids were going to do next and I'm anxious to read the next three in the series.

Brilliantly funny and melancholy, witty, ironic and dramatic book, all at the same time. I can only say, I enjoyed this one really immensely. Can't imagine why so few people have picked this up? I had it on my shelves for some years already. It's about India, hippies getting high and following the eastern trail, in Calcutta in a broken down flea infested hotel called the Lux, operated by Anand, the insomniac hotelier, who came back to India from London expecting more.... it's about foreign journalists reporting on the 13-day India-Pakistan war, from a luxury hotel, getting 'bussed out' to the war area every day to report on the war, it's about mystery hippy killings, it's about life in India, and lateron, the characters aged, wiser and with less illusions, life in luxury Los Angeles. Colourful and funny characters like Gordon and Larry. All searching for their purpose in life, love, success.... Up to the last pages, there are new developments and insights... an unusual story. "A marvellous evocation of the glorious madness which was the 70s hippy trail"...."told with humanity and attractive sympathy for the characters and their flaws"..." And: "The Paradise Trail sparkles with humour, and has the edginess of a murder mystery; but its most bracing surprise is the acute irony with which it atomizes a counter-cultural generations' youthful fantasies and middle aged illusions"...The dialogue is the wittiest I have read in any work of fiction...". Made me think of... A Visit to the Goon Squad, The Imperfectionists, The Afterparty.... Highly recommended.

Sometimes I don't like books with a lot of courtroom drama. This one had just enough and it was a great plot.

Totally different from his war or sci-fi thrillers. An interesting look at English society.

This was the last dresden book i read because someone bought the 5th one from my local shop before i could and so i havent read any past this one. People would tell me that i should just order it online but last time i ordered books online i was out €120 and i needed that money. But im just making excuses at this point. This book sees the return of Billy the werewolf to help Harry put his life back together after the events of the last book. Where the awesome Micheal from the last book ended up we are not told and that kinda bugged me because Mike (i can call my favorite charecter from the last book mike if i want to) would have been a big help in this book and he seamed the kinda guy who would have helped his friend. A point sorta hammered home at the end of book 3. Im a bit off topic... Okay, in this book i figured out who did it by the middle or so so i was kinda disaponted. Not the best in the series but still an enjoyable book. What i learned from this book If its obvious someone did it to you, and your proven right, you should start a detective agency.

Initially I found this book completely engrossing and wonderful. I also enjoyed the concept of setting the novel in Hong Kong during the Vietnam War. The ending lost me a bit and I felt it was kind of heavy handed, but still very much worth reading.

Literacy skills: Phonological awareness-Miles is on an adventure and along the way he tells us all the sounds that thinks make (creak, glug, splish-splash), these sounds help children develop phonological awareness.

One of the best fantasy books I have read in a long while. I love the fact that the more fantasy elements aren't always right out in the front jumping around and screaming "Look at me, I'm a fantasy book! Magic and dragons oh my!" The cast of characters is simple amazing and I love the fact that there is no absolutely clear cut good and no absolutely clear cut evil characters either. They all seem so wonderfully well developed and I even love to hate most of the darker members of the cast. I went through this book in no time, despite its length, because I enjoyed it so much.
