While this is not a "book" book, this is the best cookbook around. It has beautiful simple dishes, and is genuinely helpful in learning techniques and has all sorts of information about cuts of meat, etc. This book is translated from the original italian, and has been the best selling cookbook in italy for the past 50 years. My boyfriend was a chef and I bought this for him as a gift, it has been his go-to cookbook ever since. It is great for anyone from a novice to a chef, I assure you.

I love these! Even if I already have most of these poems in other books, this is such a nice set.

This is one of Roberts' less recent works, probably re-packaged and re-published after she got more prolific. I always enjoy her writing, but I had a difficult time buying the chemistry in this one. Rich, but not snobby, psychiatrist Dr. Tess Court is asked by her senator grandfather to consult with the police on a serial killer. Ben Paris is the police detective who falls for her. Tess cares a little bit more about her clients than is probably healthy (professional boundaries, anyone?) and even wants to treat the killer once he is caught. Ben's pretty high-handed in his treatment of Tess, but considering the publication date, that's not too out of the ordinary. What really irritated me was the ending. The killer was completely implausible. Quite a disappointment from a usually very reliable author. Fortunately, this book is followed by Brazen Virtue, which I really enjoyed as Ben's partner Ed (not a typical romance hero type) gets to star in his own tale.

This is really a great book and Patti Jones does a wonderful job of telling the story of Mose's life in such a way that it helps to inform even an avid fan (me) more about his music than I could get from it's constant place in my rotation. Mose's story is a good one, though not in the way some would expect to hear about a musician. His story isn't a tour through drugs and alcohol and obsession but hard work and dedication to following one discipline through to perfection. I find it more inspiring than reading about someone's rise from the depths of chemical hell. Think about it this way: here's someone who would always have had the chance to walk away. He always would have had the chance to be a regular 9-5 dude. Whereas every time the junkie rock star struggles, his only alternative is to wallow in piss and shit and die ("not pleasant, let's practice some more!"), someone like Mose could've walked away at any tough moment ("fuck it, I can take a straight job and support my family and live happily ever after,") - except it wouldn't be, it would be a compromise and one to regret. Of course Mose couldn't have done so, but the very banal normalcy of his non-musical life has it's own beauty and inspires the reader not to be defined by job or degree or whatever institutional conference they've earned/achieved thus far but, instead, by their passions.

interesting and different...part of a weird part of my life so it's a bit hard to untangle from that mess (it was loaned to me by my couple's therapist, lol.) i would only really suggest it if you like language because above all else, that's what it was about for me. if you are looking for an easy read, this isn't it.

I have to admit that I've only be able to get through about 20 pages, but I refuse to conclude that this book is boring. Yay pencils!
