This book has been on my self for a LONG time. Its off to a good start. Giuliani did a lot for NYC, so I am curious to hear what he has to say.

It was alright but I don't know how to feel about the spirituality aspect of it.

Another interesting (and emotionally satisfying) story of a Rogue falling in love. JB doesn't disappoint.

This book was definitely better than the movie version, but still didn't do too much for me.

Bel Canto was well-written and an interesting, fairly unique plot. Opera singer held hostage? That's what interests me. What didn't particularly interest me was the lack of depth and sub-text, which I felt Patchett could have easily woven in. It does, however, make for a nice light read. Which is lovely if your brain is already saturated with heavy criticism and weighty novels.

a cute and heart-warming recollection of the author's life as a teacher. one unique storytelling technique was in the way he told us about telling his students his life story in various classrooms. I kept wanting to treat it as a memoir, but it's not, and it pales as one compared to 'Tis.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 because of the weak beginning to the plot, though it could earn 5 out of 5; however, I found that fact that a 21 year old woman would break off an engagement to a wonderful man and estrange herself from an adoring family just because she finds out that she is adopted. Setting herself on a path of pain and feelings of bitterness. Her search for her past is honorable but she could have had the help of her adoptive parents and siblings. Further on if you push past this annoying detail you will discover a book beautifully written of fairy tales and sad memories that haunt every sentence.

This book was fantastic. People may think it is depressing, but I think quite the opposite. It's definitely sad, but the writing is beautiful without being stuffy.

I LOVED this book. A lot of people are thrown about the comic book subject but, as with all great books, it's about life in general and not just comic books or thier creators.

The best way to think of the Dortmunder books: imagine P.G. Wodehouse (however anachronistically) re-writing Guy Ritchie movies as novels. Sadly, this will be the last of the Dortmunder series; Westlake, like Dickens and Austen, went out still at the top of his game. Who but Westlake would create a NYPD "Chief Inspector Mologna (pronounced Maloney)"? And who but Westlake would have been shameless enough to christen a bungling security outfit "the Continental Detective Agency"?
