The theme is truly to teach students to follow their conscience. The illustrations were beautiful and could be used for an art unit. Students could create their own artwork and use it to reflect on their own cultural background!

Everything about this book is fantastic, J.T. Petty is completely underrated (see also Clemency Pogue, Fairy Killer, and no, it doesn't need to be fall for you to read this. It's like all the best parts of Lemony Snicket, Goosebumps, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the movie Monster House in one. It's really funny and it's written really friggin' well. Plus there's flip action in the bottom right corner! of a squampkin turning into a MONSTER. What more do you want? The book starts out with the Nasselrogt (pronounced nasal-rod) children being sent to an orphanage after their neglectful, self-absorbed parents fry themselves in tanning beds at the local mall. The orphanage is really a zipper factory, though, and the children are forced into labor, gluing individual zipper teeth in place. Naturally they run away and adopt hidden identities. They end up in an abandoned house/candy shop in a small town where they discover the secret squampkin recipe, which, while earning them a living and making them some local enemies, also slowly reveals a secret past and results in a really exciting, actually sort of frightening, monster-chasing-you-down-a-tunnel-about-to-eat-your-face-off-on-Halloween climax. DAMN. Read it, people!

** spoiler alert ** I couldn't put this book down it was very easy to be drawn into the book and I liked that. This was also my first trip into the romance genre and it was a good book to be introduced too. There was a solid plot too. The constant complaining of Ruth's age and Garrick's one ball got a bit annoying as it became more constant but I can understand in that type of nature and with Ruth's job why her age would be of concern. I loved the physical details of the electricity running through each of them as they got closer and the constant of their eyes as well. The murder plot with them trying to frame Garrick was really rushed. But I can see how through out the novel, after I was done reading it, that there was a lot of stuff dealing with it through out the book. But I think more of it through the book would've been better. I had just happened to look at the back of the book when in school and was surprised to see "and he's being framed for murder" which didn't come in until the last 50 or so pages. I was happy with the resolution of the book and how they were able to get their happy ending and Ruth was able to conceive. Which I don't see why she wouldn't, she just kept saying she was too old not that her cycle was missing. But I'm being to critical, I highly enjoyed this book and might delve into romance more often.

An Indian waiter, Ram Mohammed Thomas, wins a million in television show and gets arrested for cheating in show on producers claim. With common Flashback he explains how he "knew" the answers of "known" questions. It is all about adventures taught him many lessons on loss, love, deceit, kindness, injustice and guilt. Novel correctly depict s Contemporary life style of poor Indians and their dreams. I have Seen Movie "Slumdog millionaire". Movie is loosely adapted to novels concept. Many Facts are also distorted and are written with prejudice .I do not think it as one of greatest movies, I have seen. The stories in the book and characters don’t hold together I Like the book better, it has good flow of stories and each story have powerful ending..

** spoiler alert ** Such a good HP book, kept me thinking through the whole thing, what is going to happen next? One second we are crying our eyes out when Dobby dies, the next cheering along when Harry and his pals escape Gringotts on a dragon. An epic conclusion to the series I hoped would never end, Long Live Harry Potter!

this book was really good it still reminds me of my first Christmas. all the characters had a different personality like the young girl was a leader it was stamped on her ticket.
Currently my favorite book. I marked up every margin because the characters were so REAL - I connected in so many ways with the characters, I felt what they felt, I could see my life in theirs. It also brought to life an era in history that is not very well-known - an entire country - the tiny Biafra - starved. The sister, the woman who is lost, signifies the entire country. I loved it, it was amazing, I tell everyone I see to read it.
