Whimsical and simply written, with fantastic illustrations, and lightning-quick to read - I did it in one sitting! The first book is all about a mysterious and dusty field guide to the faeries, and each book focuses on one or two types. Children will love it - my 8-year-old niece is absorbed in the box set - if you are looking for gift ideas. It's a fantasy, but it's a little more of an earthy fantasy so it will appeal to boys as well as girls, and it has its very funny moments. I've devoured Books one and two, eagerly awaiting the chance to read Book Three!

I had a hard time starting this book because the author's writing style is very rough. Almost as if it was his first book. Then the action got really good and I found it hard to put the book down. Great characters and location. Interesting ideas. Lots of religious tie-ins. I'm sure a lot of the good reviews are from LDS people who are just really excited to see some realistic Mormon references in an action story. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would consider reading more by this author.

Really 3.75...The prequel was better. Zannah, his apprentice, couldn't hold a tampon by herself if you ask me. She doesn't bring much to the story but foolishness that I wouldn't expect from a potential heir to the Sith legacy. Darth Bane on the other hand is the real deal. His focus and determination is resounding. If you want to see what it took to bring the Sith back into the fold after a major loss, pick this up.

Wow !! What a book!! I had often meant to sit down and read this book many times through the years..now that I have finally done just that I am kicking myself as to why I took so long. This book had everything I could ever ask for from a book.Mystery, unrequited love, passion, large eerie house,skeletons in the closet, frightening occurrences at night, tragedy,heroes and heroines, handsome arrogant males and an ending that was breathtaking.The book really does take you on a whirlwind of emotion then drops you at the last page exhausted and content with a smile on your face... I can't wait to read it again!!!!
