I started this years ago, and never got through more than five pages. Some time later I tried again, and was not successful. Now, in my 26th year, I finally finished and I am so happy that I did. This is not a book that is easy to read, and it's not one were much really happens. But just wait, give it time, and suddenly a world will open up and you'll realize why this is marked one of the best books in modern literature. I believe that, as a woman, there is much to learn from the lines and pages of Mrs. Dalloway: how we spend our time, the decisions we make, who we love, and so on. The underlying sadness is poetic and the descriptions of the details are breathtaking. Yes, I am aware that all of this is very general, but that's the emotion that Mrs Dalloway left me with: that of a beautiful piece that would be best suited if read in one go.
