Another great collection of essays by the great German Marxist mystic. I believe this contains the essay, "The Author as Producer" - an amazing piece of literature on Bertolt Brecht.

Nice change of pace as this book goes back to start of Courtney dynasty in 16th Century. So it is a tale of pirates (or privateers) and treasure.... plus a bit about the Dutch in Cape Town and Prester John in Ethiopia.

starts slow... lots of long lists... gets better, but I wouldn't say that it's good.

I absolutely loved this book! I received it as a preview from the publisher. As an Art History student, I am very familiar with the life of Van Gogh, his works, and have read the published letters of between Vincent and his brother. I felt this book truly captured the spirit of Van Gogh. I t was very interesting to have it narrated through the eyes of Dr. Gachet, who he painted. I was unaware that Dr. Gachet was well known in the Impressionist and Post Impressionist circles. That fact really made everything feel very interconnected. This book was beautifully written. The author's choice of phrasing was very almost melodic in places and her descriptions were vivid and beautiful. I especially enjoyed how she described Van Gogh's paintings. I also felt the author truly captured the period that Van Gogh's life took place and gave the world a messy, truthful telling of the amazing artist that was, Vincent Van Gogh. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Totally different from the movie, and a bit redundant towards the end. but overall, pretty good.

This book started with a crime, always something I like. Then it became all about boys. Yuck! I love books about love, but I hate books about boys.
the events in 'rebel angels' mostly take place over the christmas holidays, when the girls leave spence for london and their families. felicity decides to bring ann home with her under the pretense that she has recently discovered russian royalty in her lineage. kartik gains employment as the doyle's coachman so that he can be near gemma to help her find the temple and bind the magic in the realms. gemma must learn to rely on herself and make difficult decisions when she discovers she can't trust everyone. i enjoyed the love triangle element when lord simon denby shows up on the scene. we also find out who circe is which genuinely surprised me. i think i liked this one even more than 'a great & terrible beauty.'
