Really liked this book. Most everyone at my Library's Face to Face book club really liked it as well. The Characters are truly vivid. One of the reviews on the book jacket says that it is a combination of CSI and the Canterbury Tales and that is a great description. The main character is an interesting truly strong female and given that it is in the 12th century it is a great construct. I now understand that it is the first book in a series so I will be looking for the followup.

This one made me want to be at the beach but not with any of the characters. It took me a while to get into the story and once I did, it was more of a mild curiosity to find out what happens to them than a great plot. Mom loaned me this one and said "it's ok.". Agreed.

Overall a very enjoyable book. I think I would have liked a little more character development in some cases. It was a quick and engaging read. I think I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

Take a look, guys; it's a book about beauty queens, after all! Further, if you're worried about what happens to the girls, a helpful closing-credits photo montage comprises the epilogue. Of a book. This really didn't work for me.

The book is really a Literary masterpiece. A very gripping story. But in the middle it becomes a bit lengthy. Lengthy as in with so many small small details of the surrounding becomes to much at times. But the story weaving is done wonderfully. All the details about Mumbai and other parts of India, Afghanistan etc. are wonderfully told. I myself have lived in Mumbai for 2 years, but after reading this book, I felt like I don't know even 2% Mumbai. A never before tour of Mumbai for sure. A must read book for book lovers. It's size of 944 pages is bit too much while starting to read the book. But trust me, once you start reading and get yourself in the groove, you will find the read very entertaining.

An incredible narrative about race and class in Brooklyn that takes itself seriously without any pretense or snobbery. The protagonist is engaging, the images strong. Highly, highly recommended to anyone with an eye on the culture of narsisism we're currently inhabiting. It's also a beautiful story.
