I would read this to younger elementary students (prek~1st grade). It does not really have a plot but I would use it to do a lesson sequence, or re-telling the story. The book is rather simple; it would also be a fun lesson to do on different types of animals.

Francine Rivers... books written in the love language, inspired by Love, also known as God. This book is inspired partly by the drift in generations in the authors own family, inspired by her grandmother`s life. This book also deals with a serious problem that is usually debated these days: euthanasia. After reading this book i dream of having a garden some day...

I didn't give this book a star because even the lowest rating (didn't like it) wasn't low enough.

She's a lot meaner in the book. But as a former nanny I totally identify!!
Loved this one, especially the stories about the stone table and all the visitors!

This book came in handy while at Vic. bring up issues of children behaviour, teaching behaviour. It also gives you an insight of the levels of learning and if you're making comparisons and wanting examples, I suggest you read this. It'll defintely help if you're taking any 200-level Educ papers! lol

Well ... I might have a new favorite author. WOW! I just think Fisher's world building skills are wonderful. I was drawn into the book and loved every moment of it. I couldn't figure out what was going to happen until it happened, and I couldn't read fast enough! I wish I knew someone who'd finished it already, so I could discuss it and make sure I understand the ending! :) My only complaint would be regarding the short POV sections. It felt a bit soap-opera-ish in the speed changing from one point-of-view to another. But frankly, that just made me read faster. And, I'm not sure the right girl ended up with Finn, and I'm not sure the prison situation was resolved the way I wanted it ... BUT I LOVED IT!! I'm sad I don't have more pages to read. I suppose I will need to read her other books!

Every once in a while you encounter an author who strings together a phrase that takes your breath away. It's so insightful, or funny, or really fucking smart that you have to put the book down for a second. Then you pick it up again to savor that phrase again. And again. Lily Burana writes such thoughtful and wise phrases *all the time* (if you don't believe me, pick up a copy of "Strip City" or "Try"). "I Love a Man in Uniform" is funny. It's moving. It's also really brave. Lily is wholly relatable as she talks about the balancing act that is her life. You don't have to be married to the military to enjoy this book-- it's about growing up, fitting in, fighting demons and loving someone with all your heart. There's also a juicy Playboy anecdote thrown in for good measure.
