I guess it was OK but not that much.
The public library had these four books and I read them sometime in high school. I wound up buying them from the library later when they were getting rid of them.

It was o.k. Too many characters.

I absolutely hated the protagonist from beginning to end. So disappointed when she didn't change, but you've got to give Bushnell props for staying true to the character...even if I hated her!

I'm a little ambivalent about this book. Reading it was kind of like being inside Elizabeth Gilbert's head, and I wasn't always sure it was a place I wanted to be. She annoyed me at the beginning of the book by being way too much like every spazzy 40something divorcee Diane Lane has ever played (that might have been a conscious style choice, but it still bugged the crap out of me), and then she annoyed me at the end by (spoiler alert!) allowing herself to slip so easily back into her old pattern of relying on a man for happiness. (I'm not sure what I thought the "love" section of the book was going to entail, exactly, but I couldn't help but feel that the easy ending kind of tarnished her whole spiritual journey, in spite of her assertions that she really had changed.) I liked all the stuff in between, though, so all in all it wasn't a bad read.

This is the other Great Illustrated Classic that my father read to me. I have never read Little Women in full or seen all of any movie of it, so I gather that everything I know about this story is from this. I remember the clothespin on the nose, one of them cutting her hair, the dress getting burned at the dance. I remember it being an enjoyable story, but since this was a condensed children's version and because I was a child, I think that I missed out on a lot of the depth and detail of the story. I think I might read the orginal version sometime as an adult.

The 2nd book in the series. Full of suspense and action. Goblins, explosions, and a kindnapped father this book is AWESOME!

Sandra Brown brings about a strong-willed woman in Sunny Chandler. She knows what she wants and she works hard to get it. Sunny doesn’t trust easily and one Mr. Ty Beaumont is definitely not to be trusted. Sunny Chandler’s Return is one of Sandra Brown’s novels that I will read again. Its characters are strong and stubborn. Some women don’t seem to really want a man, and some men don’t seem to know when they’ve met their match.

So far each story has been absurdly satisfying. The Saunders story included was one from CivilWarLand (I believe) and one of my favorites anyway, the one with the sisters Min and Jade? But more importantly, like, twelve writers aside from Saunders have their work highlighted in this collection and it manages to be exactly my style of surrealism, satire, politics, and mindfuck. I've only got like three more left to read... alas.

Really enjoyed this rather disturbing missive from new author S. J. Bolton - - as long hidden secrets of a small English village start to come to light, other mysterious occurences begin happening around town. Such as three (3) young siblings seeing, and communicating with, a young waif in the cemetery that no one else sees and the mysterious deaths/disappearances of three young toddlers--all little girls. The ending was quite surprising (to me, anyway).
