This book is formatted like a series of blog posts and easy to put down and pick up again later. Each section has a motivational message to inspire a new way of thinking about, and taking action on leadership. Because of the put-down, pick-up quality of the book, I do think I need to reread it again. Each section needs mulling time and rereads do the trick for me. Despite the compactness (the book is short), it is powerful. One concept that encouraged me was overcoming the “F-word” (FEAR). Fear of failure is over-rated! Godin remarks “it is a badge of honor to get a bit of criticism ... this means you did something worth remarking on.” Making yourself remarkable isn't necessarily a bad thing. When you let fear stand in your way, you can miss out on a lot of things. Another thing I thought enlightening was the fact that tribes are defined as a group of people being connected. A leader for the tribe helps members connect by creating a movement to share the vision and keep the group interacting and involved. The movement is what makes thing happen and gets things done.

I'm a little biased because I love anything that has to do with dance and theater, but the best part of story was the dialogue between Jenna and Adrienne. So many great "oh no she didn't" moments. Fun, quick read with lovable characters and an honest love story wrapped around two women who aren't afraid to chase their dreams.

I finally finished reading this book after the library removed it from the 7-day loan category. I really enjoyed it: the Second World War seemed much fresher and more immediate than anything I've read about that time. The author was able to portray both the conqueror and the conquered more sympathetically because she did not have the benefit of hindsight (sadly). It must have caused some soul-searching in France. Many people in the novel behaved less than nobly, particularly in the flight from Paris, still there were a few heroic characters, enough to make you feel that the author had not given up on human beings.
