Because you enjoyed The Time Traveler’s Wife, you might enjoy My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares. This is the story of a true love that carries through centuries and lifetimes.

First in a popular series about a flawed detective, a murder mystery, yadayadayada.... It was good but not my thing.
its a classic. enough said.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one. I really enjoyed it, for the most part. The characters were good, the story was unique, and I found it rather difficult to put down. I think the main problem was that we already knew what happened. We're told at the start that her sister died, that Alice turns out to be cruel, that she has a daughter. So the rest of the book is just filling in the finer details. It was well written though and quite compelling. It's different, thought provoking, and really makes you question what you'd do if you were in Katherine's shoes.

This book was mostly about a bunch of dysfunctional siblings (now adults) who all suffered because their mom was taken in a tornado 30 years earlier and never found. Kind of depressing to me!

I saw this on Kurtis's list, but Lauren was the one to tell me about this book. I absolutely loved it, though it did get a bit long toward the very end. I went so far as to find Clarke's web site and read an interview in which she says she's planning not so much a sequel as a follow up book using some of the subsidiary characters. Oddly, I've had a hard time convincing others to read this one. It's also difficult to get into for the first 50 pages. I think telling others that this book is an adult's Harry Potter is probably doing it a dis-service. It interacts with history in such a very different manner than the Rowling books, and it doesn't champion a hero, etc.
Somewhat melodramatic and a touch formulaic, but still enjoyable. It's one of those "philsophical novels" that read like cheap romances. See also: Ayn Rand.

Couldn't put this one down either It was so good.
Wonderfully atmospheric book. The story is good, and doesn't even rely that much on actions or events to keep the characters in motion. In a way, it's very much like real life... in that small occurrences and habits add up over time. I think that I may have enjoyed the writing moreso than the actual storyline, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a good ghost story.

I finally got around to reading the Hunger Games, and I'll admit that I was hooked. I've already ordered the second book! I don't know that I would call it fine literature, but I thought the plot was compelling and different.
