Another great installment! I soared through this one and am already holding onto Book Three from the library. I am really enjoying Percy and his struggles with his destiny and his future, as foretold by the Oracle. I love how the pieces are coming together and the whole saga is unfolding and coming to a climax. Looking forward to more Percy!

I was always more of a Shaun Cassidy/Parker Stevenson girl myself, but heard this author on Fresh Air today and can't resist. All teenage Tiger Beat crushes are universal, no?

This book was great. The story captures you and sucks you into their world.

The Gods Themselves is a great Science Fiction Masterpiece. It deals with many concepts which can be analyzed in greater detail, such as Government construction, majority versus minority rule, what is good for the people, and other concepts of the like. I find this book would be a great novel to use in a classroom setting.

This book is so much more than only a picture book, but I also would grant it status as one of the top three picture books I have ever read. The artwork by Holling Clancy Holling is simply unparalleled, or if rivaled by anyone at all, then only by Robert Lawson and perhaps Garth Williams at his best. The deep, thought-povoking story, combined with the majestic pictures that caused me to gasp when turning most pages like a new present being opened on Christmas morning, give this story a value beyond what I ever expected when I first decided to read it. Seabird is eminently worthy of its Newbery Honor citation, and is a truly and regally magnificent story.

Rob Sheffield uses a fun device of starting each chapter with a listing of songs from a mix tape to tell his story. It chronicles the time leading up to and when he met his wife, as well as chronicling their marriage. It is not a "happy" story, and he explores some angst and repressed emotions here as well as surprising early-life tragedy. He is a good writer and keeps this autobiographical exploration engaging. If you are a true music/music history lover, especially of late 80's/early 90's music, add a star.

more well crafted than friend of the earth. still quirky. boyle is big on the social commentary, but he's not usually too didactic about it.

Gosh what has happened to travel or travel writers? I guess the world is really getting smaller because there don't seem to be many big surprises left to write about. This was disappointing.

This is one of my favorite books ever. Perhaps only call it "one" of my favorites because to have it be my favorite book ever would be something that people would frown upon. So take what you will from that. While some may dislike the ending, I find that the rest of the book is good enough to carry a somewhat sad and maybe disappointing ending.
