Lo de aventuras no es broma, realmente es una aventura tras otra. lean a Bellow antes de que se amargara y las ex esposas malvadas -casi al punto de lo diabólico- poblaran todas sus novelas.
Relatos y Borges... ¡Qué gran combinación!
Lovely... I love this series... would have loved it to have been longer.

I had to read this for my YA lit course. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I would say that younger boys could relate to the characters and story more than girls would. At time, the story seemed to drag on, but it was well-done. There was enough imagery in there to make for an interesting discussion. (I had to lead the weekly discussion for this book and My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. They worked well together.)

Best book ever, despite the fact that it was recently on Oprah's Book Club.
A beautiful telling of the story of a castratti.

My first Tom Wolfe, this managed to portray Atlanta, a city I was largely unfamiliar with before reading, so that I felt like I had a grasp on the race relations, cultural background and social context of the city. Memorable characters and a great weaving together of different plot elements in the end.

So-so story that was no where as graphically awful as it could have been. While I don't usually like stories that are too intense, this one really needed that to keep it from turning into the predictable read it was. Totally disappointed me.
I like this book so much. It's baseball season, so I pulled it from the shelf for a re-read. Baseball, Adventists, the Vietnam War, the Northwest and Seattle in the 60s, family, responsibilities, choices. Are the women characters fully developed? Well, no, that's a weakness, but it really is a great read. I don't know why it hasn't been made into a movie. The narrative voice jumps between three of the Chance brothers, but stays longest with the youngest, Kincaid, as they tell the progression of their father's baseball career, their mother's religious fervor, and each other's young adult quests. You get a great feel for the crushing weight of expectations in the family.
