I really just liked this book. I could go into the parts where she was not likeable, or where I cringed, or where I found her embarrassing but those were all the parts of her that I saw myself in. I found myself turning off my TV so I could curl under the covers to go back to this book. I found myself sneaking in a few pages here and there while I would wait for giant files to upload at work. I might not be able to relate to this book again when I am 45 with kids but right now I feel like I get her, and I am thankful she let me tag along on her adventure.

If you are a fan of Firefly, you will find at least one or two of the essays that you enjoy. The essay I enjoyed most was "The Reward, the Details, the Devil, the Due". It's very interesting to learn some of the tricks a director or artist uses to draw the eye to a certain point on the screen.

If you want to know more about the country and the Iranian people, this is a must read.

Brilliant!! like two books in one, well to me anyway. There is the first part with the family and the tragedy then you have the spiritual part which in itself, i feel, was amazing. made me question alot of things in life and this is from a non practising christian!! BROUGHT ME TO TEARS AT POINTS. rEAD IT, GIVE IT A CHANCE, PLEASE GET PAST FIRST FEW CHAPTERS!!

If I hadn't read the forward, the end of the book wouldn't have made any sense. In the end, it was minor considering what happened before that point. This was exciting, just like the first book in the series.

I'm not really in any position to review poetry, but this guy writes some good poems. He's Polish, so some of it I can't relate with, which means I probably just don't get the deeper meaning of the poem. The stuff I do get is really good, though, for what it's worth.

This book made me so angry! It had such possibility and ended up being so mediocre. I wanted it to be a great book about the Triangle Shirtwaist FIre, but it seemed as if Weber couldn't make up her mind. Was it the fire? Was it the mathematical compositions? Or perhaps 911? Maybe even feminism and academics? I read it for my book club and that's the only reason I finished it. Does Weber have an editor? The pushy Ruth was completely over the top and the sections with the boyfriend/composer felt like a distraction. Give me more of the grandmother and more background on the fire. Or just give me another book.
