I knew there had to be a reason that Feather's mother wasn't mentioned or in the picture after her birth...I didn't think that it was for the reason that it turned out to be. Wow! It is a reminder that you never know what the future holds...even if you think that you know what you want, it could change in a heartbeat - especially the heartbeat of a newborn child!

This book is like being allowed vicariously to live in English and Scottish villages. It has all of the charm that is the reason any American wants to visit the UK, and yet it offers more than the tourist's view - through Mrs. Tim, you are given access to the real people, and their houses, and their strange idiosyncrasies. You see all of the wonderful and quirky parts of Great Britain that the real population would never think to boast of.
Julie doesn't want to move from her favorite place ever even jsut a few miles away would make her cry. Moving would mean leaving her best friend Ivy and her pet rabbitt Nutmeg. The worst of all is she would have to leave her dad now that her parents are divorced. Then Julie is pumoed when she finds out that the new school has a bsketball team until the coach says "NO GIRLS ALOUD!". Julie has to fight her place on the team, some of her classmats tease her, and now even her best friend ivy wont talk to her. Will Julie ever find home in her new school new life? This book is great because it is one of the american girls who is closer to today, so you can relate to julie a lot!

Difficult to review this as it is very clearly incomplete. Clyde Fans Book Two is stil years away. The work may accumulate depth and meaning as a complete work. For now, Book One is interesting but not great. Seth is a wonderful artist with a great eye for period detail and small character moments. His writing is less accomplished. I'm not sure what his repeating wavy panels are meant to signify. His "cinematic" style is solid but not overwhelming. Actually, that is how I would describe the book: solid but not overwhelming.

Wow! WOOOOW! Whoa. Read this. Now. Run don't walk.
This book is about a "special" boy named Christopher who lives with his divorced father in a town called Swindon. The story begins with Christopher who finds out that Wellington, Mrs. Shears dog, had been violently assassinated by someone with a garden fork on the front yard of Mrs. Shears house. Christopher decides to write a book about this incident and decides to find out who the murder was. His father does not agree that a person like Christopher who has a lot of fears and difficulties be in charge of making an investigation so he prohibits him from doing it. Even though Christopher's dad made him promise he wont investigate the crime no more he continues to do it secretly. Throughout the investigation he learns about people around his neighborhood, and thanks Mrs. Alexander (one of the people who he interrogates" he finds out that his mother wasn't really dead and thanks to that, Christopher now thought different about his father. It was not till when his father realized that Christopher already knew that his mom wasn't really dead that he confessed that he had been the one in charge for killing Wellington. Until that precise moment Christopher revealed to the reader that he couldn't trust dad anymore and that he had to escape to mothers house in London. When he finally reached London he found himself into even more problems since Mother had not only escaped from his Father but he had escaped with Mr. Shears who was Mrs. Shears husband, he also noticed that things went from bad to worst for her Mother since she had been fired from her job and Mr. Shears didn't want to be in the same house with Christopher since the place where they were wasn't for 3 people. So one morning Christopher's Mother and him went back to Swindon, but not until a couple days later his Father had his sons trust back with a puppy he had bought for him them and at moment Christopher's life went back to normal.
My review (spanish): http://sabiouswords.blogspot.com/2011... I just... I don't know... WTF! this is the best book ever!
