** spoiler alert ** This was a very good book, loosely based on the life of Laura Bush. I say loosely because it is obviously very loosely based on her and W. I liked reading about a heroine, if you will, that is a more introverted book lover. You don't see many of those in today's novels. The book was quite enjoyable until probably the last quarter of the book. For such a heavy emphasis on their early years, it tended to gloss through things once they were married and he decided to run for office. While I didn't want a day-to-day accounting of life on the political campaign trail, it would have been interesting to follow the characters as they coped with the massive stress of that major life change. Instead, we are given small doses of this in the form of flashbacks. I was not satisfied with this, given the investment put forth in the first three quarters of the book where we came to know the characters intimately. Perhaps this was a literary device to show the reader how public office literally pulls a person back. Either way, it left me feeling a little dull towards the end of the book and anxious for the story to end quickly. Apparently the author felt similarly, as a few plot contrivances wrapped the book up quickly within the last two chapters. Overall, it was a good book, but the last quarter of the book was lacking enough depth and continued character development that it has left the review lacking that fifth star setting into the category of excellent.

My knowledge of twentieth century logic and metaphysics is not sufficient to give a proper review for this book, but I will say that the style is excellent. I will certainly have to return to it once I have learned more about the pertinent philosophies.

Not as good as book one in the series but still a lot of fun. Since I'm watching the HBO series at the same time, I find myself intertwining the book & the show. The HBO series is taking great liberties. The author's story line is much more consistent.

Wonderful. I did not know that it was going to be as good as it was. The story was moving and painted a picture that will stay with me for a long time. One of the best books that I have read.
