This was a good book. Sure it lost me in the end when it decided to go all religious on me and I honestly think it could have been shorter but it was well written, excellent characters, and enough plot elements left hanging to want me to read the next book. But not right away. Have I mentioned that it's a loooonnnggggg book? **Revision of rating** Six months on and after thinking about it I've realised that I actually never want to pick up this book again and have no desire to read the next one unless I run out of books to read.

So my knowledge of poetry is even more limited than my knowledge of fiction, but I've been drawn to it more and more lately. Philip Levine is a big reason for that. I picked this book up while visiting a friend in NYC, and even though I've read it a couple of times, I still carry it around with me regularly. I connected with "Gospel" in such a visceral way that I could swear we walked the same path as he describes. Additionally, the urban landscapes he draws are so familiar, so vivid, that I feel like I'm looking at a photograph rather than reading words on a page. Love it, and need to get more.

I didn't seem to enjoy this as much as most people did, but I still found it interesting.

This one is by far my favorite and with a nice little cliff hanger twist!

Do you guys remember these? I must have checked this book out of the library a hundred times to read again and again! I can't believe they are still out there. How cool!

I really enjoy this deck/book, and it has great layouts and meditation/visualization exercises, but lately I have not been enjoying it as much. I think that sometimes you are in a certain mind set and need one deck and at other times you need another deck. I think I need to come back to this one a little later. The book is very comprehensive as to meanings, but I need to put my own meaning into them as well, and the book makes it hard to do. Though if you just read the descriptions of the cards and the stories behind the fairies depicting (and not the divinatory meanings, and maybe even skip the meditations), you can bring your own definitions into focus.

Baiklah, setelah kecewa dengan dua buku sebelumnya, saya akhirnya puas dengan Feels Like Family ini. Tidak tahu karena alasan pribadi atau memang novel ini feel-nya lebih terasa. :)

Barsamian is remarkably inept as an interviewer, failing to pursue any meaningful line of questioning; Chomsky's commentary, while laudable, is better captured in other interview books (see especially, Understanding Power).
Since this book was written in the late 80s, it is a bit dated, but the general ideas behind the book (about consumerism, our irrational worries, etc) still resonate. A fairly easy read, all around good times.
