Didn't think I would blow through this book. But, I couldn't put it down. I have liked both books by Ross King, the other book was the Pope's Ceiling about MichaelAngelo. These are tough subjects to read through because Ross puts a lot of technical knowledge about architecture, history, and other technical jargon. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. What I got out of it is this . . . even a guy who is now looked upon as a genious had to go through the burdens of peer and personal critic. He failed at many things that his enemies used against him. He built a ship that sank and a dam that broke. Nonetheless, he did the almost impossible by building the church dome that pretty much sparked the Renaissance. Leanardo Da Vinci used much of his work to build off his own knowledge. Anyways, learned a great deal. Enjoyed the book. And, I would recommend it for anyone who is interested in the subject.

Amazing piece of fiction. I already loved Kate Atkinson and she blew me away with this book. The story is about a young girl, told from her point of view beginning at her conception. Such a unique way of telling a story. I was captivated from the beginning.

Fabulous. I read it shortly after "Running With Scissors" because I liked Burroughs' voice and his jaded/funny/sad/non-self-pitying take on the people and events in his own outrageous life, and "Dry" is a lot better even. This is partly because there is more of a narrative arc. Highly recommended.

I liked this book for the same reason I enjoyed "The Devil Wears Prada" -- it fell into the easy-read "chick lit" category, but was well-written.

While The Secret History is by far a better book, this one does have some good points. Tart is really good at disecting these small worlds (an elite, private college or a small town) and making you feel like it's bigger than anything.
