Koontz has been described as a master storyteller and this reviewer agrees. His love for dogs shines through with this book and enhances the story. The plot moves at a fast pace, with plenty of evil characters to entertain thrill-seekers, buffeted by Amy and Brian’s love for one another and for dogs. Excellent book.

Clever wizard world fairy tales from the author of Harry Potter. Includes "The Three Brothers", which is the fairy tale at the center of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was also quite impressed with the illustration, which were done by Rowling herself. And there is commentary from the papers of Albus Dumbledore! A real treat.

Long time favorite of mine. If you can't tell. Sophie is the first of three girls, so she knows she's destined to be a failure, as is tradition. But one day she unwittingly angers a witch who turns her into an old woman. Not wanting to concern her family members, she goes off to find someplace to settle down for her last few years. She finds, however, a moving castle and decides to tame the inside and become friends with the fire demon, Calcifer. Howl, the owner of the castle, doesn't seem too pleased 100% of the time, but she finds that she's quite demanding now that she is an old woman. Soon they find themselves mixed up in witches, missing wizards with the wrong heads, and a little boy who desperately wants to be a wizard but keeps messing up. My favorite is Sophie. She starts out as timid and shy, but finds her will and learns not to conform to what others believe of her. She shares her hero glory, but she isn't a damsel in distress. She decides that she's going to make her own way in the world, curse or no curse. SO CUTE. Honestly, my favorite of her books. Just sweet and hilarious- which is always a good way to keep me coming back- and a book about realizing that we can choose to be whom we wish. And that things aren't always what they seem. Love it. Is it perfect? Nope! The ending is a bit too quick and the love story happens sooner than can be reasonably expected, although it isn't insta-love. Also, why you gotta (view spoiler) But, it has the benefit of being a longtime favorite, so faults that would be larger are forgiven.
