** Read more reviews at my blog Book Crook Liza ** I remember the first time I saw the cover of this book I knew I had to read it. It's gorgeous. It has this haunting feel to it that just sucked me in. I didn't give a crap what it was about, I just knew I had to read it. Then I found out there was time travel involved and I was done for. So, for me Hourglass had two amazing things to live up to. Luckily, it didn't disappoint! I liked Emerson quite a bit. So often times in paranormal books the heroine finds out something is unusual about herself and accepts it without much of a hitch. In Hourglass, we find Emerson already knowing her ability to a certain extent and she has learned to live with. She had already been through a stay at a mental institution resulting after a breakdown from all the stress on her shoulders. So she's a realistic girl. She is weak, but not too weak. She has her strength. I think that is one of the things I liked most about her. She's balanced. The love story was good. I felt it paced itself for a while and then escalated quickly. Teetering on the edge of a little too quickly. I guess it just seemed as if it started out nice and slow and then suddenly escalated to "I love you long time". I think that may be because I feel so used to the drawn out tension and attraction that is usually in books. It wasn't eye roll worthy by any means, but it didn't exactly capture me like it probably could have. I still liked it though and I awww'd a few times. The plot kept me on my toes and there were a lot of twists and turns I didn't anticipate. The writing was well thought out and the style of writing appealed to me. Overall, I liked this quite a bit. And I think it's unfair to have to wait until 2012 to read the next book. I'm horribly impatient.

Review to come...
I started this book and was gung-ho until about halfway through, when I remembered what happens to Dinah in the Bible and realized I didn't want to read anymore, because it's kind of a bummer, and when I was reading this I wasn't in the mood for a bummer book. Every time I see it on the shelf, I feel like I should try again.
I learned that we all have the right to rock. It is a good time for everybody.
The characters were strained, the story progression dull. I struggled to finish this. It was boring, lacked energy and life. And the plot, its been done so many times before. Getting bored now...!
To say I was disappointed in this book is an understatement. Let me start by saying I absolutely loved Shiver, it was so beautifully written that I couldn't wait for more. Then came Linger. It was a big let down, but I loved Shiver so much I was able to look past it's flaws. And now we have Forever. What can I really say about this book other than I absolutely hated it! We really didn't learn anything new about how the werewolves change, didn't find a cure that they are positive about either. There was a whole lot of useless detail and I didn't feel like we really got anywhere. Every character in this book annoyed the hell out of me, but none as bad as Grace. And the ending. I hate when Authors leave the ending open for you to insert your own idea of how it ends, but in ending this series that way it makes books 2 and 3 completely pointless! I wish Shiver would have been a stand alone book and that I never wasted my time with Linger or Forever!

What would you do if your shadow chased you into a realm where light and darkness no longer did exist? A fantasy classic that begins a series of five books. I remember really enjoying this story in high school. (Please ignore the terrible SciFi channel remake, which was rightfully condemned by the author.)
The Mortal Instruments trilogy was wonderfully wrapped up in this novel. Everything came together nicely. Clare came through with a fantastic climax. Her epilogue was a little longer than needed, but it was nice seeing everyone getting along. I started this book (and series) feeling utter frustration for Clary's reckless and careless behavior. She was my least favorite character. Once she starts to understand her power more, she becomes more tolerable. She starts to realize that her actions effect others around her ... it's not just about her! Would I recommend? Definitely yes ... the whole series. In fact, I've been recommending to everyone.

3.5 stars FBI agent Nick McCall needs help from Jordan Rhodes, heiress. She has the connections that Nick needs to plant a listening device to bring down a ring of criminals laundering money. She agrees to help in exchange for getting her brother released from jail. Overall this was a good contemporary novel that completely sizzled in places and flopped in others. My biggest disappointment was in the portrayal of the heroine. She is simply too perfect. Afterall, how many readers can relate to a female protagonist who looks like Grace Kelly, dresses with all the panache (and budget) of Princess Mary, runs her own successful upmarket business, drives a Maserati and is the daughter of a billionaire? I didn't like her; I didn't dislike her. But she didn't need me to root for her. It was a shoo-in she'd get the FBI guy. There was nothing to mar all this perfection. To remedy this, the author resorted to these peculiar add-ons to the character of Jordan, trying to make her more accessible to the average romance reader - running her own business like a regular, working girl and watching 'Dancing with the Stars' like a babe from the 'burbs. It didn't fit. So, while Jordan didn't work for me, on the other hand.... Nick was gorgeous. And delicious. And smart. And protective. And sweet. And perfect. Julie James does wonderful banter. There was some really, really funny scenes and terrific, witty exchanges. But unfortunately those moments cannot sustain an entire novel. However, it was her sex scenes that completely and delightfully took me my surprise. These well-done scenes, the fabulous FBI hero and light suspense and some moments of truly clever, sparkling dialogue, lifted this novel just above an average read.
