So very mystical and captivating, although it seems impossible to give such otherworldly tales a satisfactory ending.

This is a luminous book about women poets. I liken it to "The Artist as a Young Man" and also love her poetry. The only drawback is that you need to be very familiar with Irish history. Nation, heritage, womanhood, and poetry is seamlessly interweaved and there are often no handy gloss of a certain historical event. Even so, an intelligent reader can gather what they need from context and enjoy the book.

I would be lying if I said that this wasn't one of my favorite series of all time when I read it four years ago. And for some strange reason I had the urge to reread it again, something that I rarely do. One book, maybe. An entire series? Never. Yet I thought I could give the series another try, knowing very well that I hated the horrible ending. But this time, I decided to read the Goodreads reviews of other people. Many of them HATED this book saying that it was absolutely boring and confusing. Too many new characters and too much complaining from the protagonist. Not to mention the love triangle that I am very biased over. But I have to say that I still liked the book anyways. Yes, there wasn't that much action and yes, Dru Anderson did complain quite a bit. She was not the Badass that she once was in book one. But hell, she's been through so much in book one AND two. Give the girl a damn break. I would find it harder to believe if she wasn't fazed at all about the events that occurred in her life. So no, I did not find the storyline boring for the "first 200 pages". However, what did tick me off is her obvious lack of trust on Graves. Throughout the whole book Dru mentions that he is the ONLY one that hasn't deserted her, yet she lies to him because "she's no snitch"? Seriously? You're basing yourself on some elementary school motto? If you get beat up and the one person you trust is asking you who did it, you tell them. You don't whine about wanting to run away and evade his questions. So I must say that I hated her attitude towards Graves. And when he DOES leave her to vent and doesn't come back, her logic is that he left her behind. Bitch, he has NEVER left your side since day one and that's your conclusion? More like an excuse to not think about him and get all cozy with the 1000 year old vampire who has a fetish for svetochas and their mothers. Because of this, I decided to change my 5 star rating to 3 stars. I loved the storyline. Hell, I even like Queen Bitch Anna's character. But I HATED the way Graves was treated in this book. Make up your fucking mind Dru. Rant over.
It seems like the simple nursery rhyme, but look closely on each page, and you'll see a number of objects matching the numbers being said in the rhyme. The first page just says "1, 2..." but the illustrations are of 1 dragonfly and 2 eggs. Read this one-on-one with a little one and practice counting.

Good enough to read more, I'm withholding judgment until I've read more of the series. Things to like: Shape-changing animals that like to hang out with you Zeppelins Bears that wear armor Arcane tools Danger and Peril

Interesting story about a real Civil War cemetary -- it gives a more personal feel and perspective to such a huge subject. The pace is pretty slow, so beware.
If you are going to have a mid-life adventure what better place than the mountains of upstate New York with a view toward the green hills of Vermont. A wonderful book and the one that got me started reading all of his others. I also recommend "The Dogs of Bedlam Farm" or "A Dog Year" which follow the move to the mountain.
it was exciting in every page that i read it was amazing

Daha önce Clare'i okumadıysanız, City of Bones serisinden başlamayı öneririm.
